September 1, 201213 yr and see Ben Supniks interesting blog posts: http://developer.x-plane.com/ Very good reading :-) Thx for the link - X-Plane10 HAS FUTURE!!! September 2, 201213 yr Author No prob guys! You're welcome. Hey, I noticed we have a new folder, the "Extra Aircraft" folder, right inside the main X-Plane folder. It contains some acf-files of the old (X-Plane-)days and the work in progress Lancair Evolution by Javier Rollon. Seems they are cleaning up the aircraft folder and stuff everything old or unfinished into this new folder.

I find it pointless having 'Death Trap' and 'Austin's Flying car 2 seat' in amongst the shuttle and 747. To be honest they would be better off just concentrating on a couple of aircraft and getting them right to showcase the flight model etc. Rhydian
September 2, 201213 yr Wow that's a beautiful. Yeah, I agree they should ditch those Experimental Airplanes, they should stick with 10-12 aircrafts with accurate FM, instead of making every category there is of airplanes, that turns out useless for those who want a proper simulation. Alexis Mefano

September 3, 201213 yr Not sure what was done exactly but this is the first time the Xplane plausible world has felt convincing to me except at night. (still plenty of oddities, but I can see they are trying) The lighting seems altered somehow, with less of that harsh "florescent light" look that has turned me off for so long, and overall the impression seemed a bit more palatable. Hdr shadows are much improved from the glitchy mess of the latest betas. And did some ground textures change? Right now Xplane seems to be in the "uncanny valley" where some elements appear so true to life that any anomaly then seems much more glaring. And still, for me the planes are not pleasant to fly. (its hard to quantify) The demo ones all feel quirky and "odd" to me, unlike any other sim I have ever used, and I always end up slightly frustrated and unsatisfied. Wip We are all connected..... September 3, 201213 yr And still, for me the planes are not pleasant to fly. (its hard to quantify) Devon, I know what you mean, I really do :-) BUT!!!!! I also know I was being unfair when on many occasions in the past I Iliminarly rejected X-Plane... I'll try to explain: 1) The truth, the all truth and nothing but the thruth is that my RL flying experience is limited to gliders! Yes I have flown many glider models in RL, but that doesn't entitle me to give oppinions on how this or that GA engined aircraft should behave, and even less a jet fighter, an aerobatic airplane, an heavy, an helicopter. Sometimes I have asked my fellow powered flight pilots to take the controls. Most of the time these experiences have taken place under turbulent conditions, and all I can say is that it really is a LOT closer to real the sensation you get when flying GA aircraft in X-Plane10 compared to what we get, even using the best add-on weather injectors, in FSX/P3D. Did I use the yoke to counteract those apparently overdone torque effects in X-Plane? How could I tell??? My inputs were so many that I probably did use it and didn't even notice, just as my stick is sometimes allover the places when flying a glider on a "bomabstic" day :-) The feel, to use something we both know and like, is better in some aspects than MS FLIGHT - for me this says it all... But, we still need (just as MS FLIGHT did) the proper modelling of spiraling slipstream effects, and I know Austin is aware of it, so, just as many things in X-Plane, which is an ongoing and very active project, we may end getting it even better in X-Plane10 :-) Can we expect the same in MSFS or P3D? I don't think so.... Maybe with P3D v2.0.... ELITE is the sim I use to test accuracy of engine parameters and flight (inside of the envelope) models. I found the exact same effects modelled on prop aircraft in ELITE that I find in X-Plane10. Most of it is totally absent from MSFS/P3D and could only be implemented if an external FDE was used together with simconnect (the way one of ELITE's products works, using their own FDE and ESP for the views). 2) There is a unique sensation of being there in X-Plane, even when I fly over a Lisbon town enhanced with OSM buildings and streets but lacking the emblematic buildings (and my football club stadium - the nearest to Belém tower in Lisbon :-) ). But I couldn't care less because the light, the sensation of flying over a town at day, dusk, dawn or night is unique, and during night a lot more realistic than in MSFS/P3D or even MS FLIGHT! I've done a few approaches in a cockpit jumpseat to many airports including Lisbon's LPPT at night - X-Plane10 is BY FAR the simulator that best translates what I see in RL. I felt really unconfortable the first time I approached LPPT rw 03 on the jumpseat of a L-1011 (my preferred legacy airliner) and had great difficulty finding the rw :-/ I had to use the HSI to help me finding it.... By then my only experience in flightsimming was coming from MSFS... Whow, how different it is in RL, and in X-Plane10 too!!!! 3) The positive being said, there are also many things that irritate me in X-Plane10, but at least I can hope they will eventually get fixed/addressed by LR. They are picky for many of you, but they to bother me: - The poor Moon phase modeling - The poor twilight modelling, making it pitch dark soon after sunset, before sunrise, when in RL we still have plenty of light around - The way presently X-Plane10 translates some fields of a METAR string, such as variable wind and turbulence... X-Plane10 is now the only simulator I have installed. I intend to invest seriously on it, and so far I am very happy with my decision. I also started the best way in as far as add-on buying s concerned - the LES dc-3 will show you the real beauty of X-Plane10... The An-24 will make you sweat :-) P.S.: Drag from oppening a door/canopy inflight not modelled :-( yet... :-) Flying gliders since 1980 Flightsimming since 1992 AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)
September 3, 201213 yr I noticed they did some tweaking of the F-22 for this beta. Normally, I'm not a fighter guy, but I decided to take it out for a spin. It was fun to fly, but the real kick was flying an off the cuff airshow demo, and then watching the replay from ground level. I'll be darned if the thing didn't maneuver around like the real thing from airshow demos I've seen! I'm sure it's not exactly a 1:1 simulation of the aircraft, but on a superficial level, I'm rather impressed.
