The Xplane 10 'OMG' Experience

Featured Replies

What is your favourite OMG experience in XPX.

Flying in the PNW from Skagit through the mountains using RW has been noted.

Well, I tend to fly mainly around Portugal mainland, particularly around LPPT, and have had a few OMG experiences after having added OSM scenery objects to Portugal, with HDR and the smoothness brought by RC2, but sometimes even just by looking at those "ugly" force vectors around X-Plane10 aircraft ( hit CTRL-M... and cycle through it to see what I mean, if you haven't already...).

There is certainly a lot of scenery sugar in X-Plane10, down to signal lights, police cars on roads, etc... There are the very nice cloud, the light, the shadows, and pretty much everything that comes to my mind regarding the realistic experience "flying" and X-Plane10 aircraft can bring, and many times result in OMG moments, but for me, who am very interested in the fidelity of the flight and systems models, and the overall modelling of physics in a flight simulator, those force vectors show me why X-Plane10 ( X-Plane in general ) is so far ahead the alternatives ( civil, I can't comment on DCS because I do not have it... ).

Being able to have a very good idea about what is going on behind those many possible OMG situations is my biggest OMG experience :-)

Flightsimming since 1992

"OMG I have this sim running at 40fps but it keeps crashing way too often because of that old-school 32-bit memory limit. OMG I need it to be 64-bit, before I can have a real OMG moment". well…

Well I never had a crash from day 1 using X-Plane10, both in Windows XP 32 bit and Windows7 64 bit.

I am using OSM, and HDR full HDR settings.

My video card is a Gefforce 450 GTS

When I went to the Rendering Settings and saw all the options available.

:LMAO:

Going NOE in the F-22 at sound barrier tickling speed (pardon the buffeting. I backed off the throttle a bit to try to ease that) was pretty OMG earlier this morning. B)

That's my gripe. It shouldn't buffet like that.

Flying that fast in an aircraft that small will always have some buffeting. Watch when the camera is focused on the pilot, because the camera is fixed and shakes with the aircraft, you can see the pilots head shaking constantly.

And another one. Have a look at around 1:20

running xp10 at max settings and getting smooth FPS with my 777......No crashes since i upgraded to RC2. I love landing my 777 on i95 during rush hour traffic  Does anyone know the "ils frequency" for i95 :LMAO:

Are you an X-Plane flyer?

Are you an X-Plane flyer?

I own X-Plane 8 & 9. Use the 10 demo, and have four payware X-Planes. I believe it gives me the right, to dispute certain statements here and there.

But then, I did get kicked off the org. (or at least totally moderated)............because I didn't believe that X-Plane did the best of everything, over FSX.

There's a lot I like about X-Plane. There's also a lot I still like about FSX & it's 3rd party contributors. I'm also a pilot, and "experimental" aircraft builder.

It's the reason I tend to disagree a bit, here and there.

Did you watch the videos, Larry?

I'm very interested in your feedback and opinions on the buffeting in real aircraft and how strikingly similar it is in X Plane.

There's a time and place for disagreement. A thread asking for people to share their remarkable moments in X-Plane isn't either. I think the biggest problem people have with you is that you find a way to throw a wet blanket on just about any conversation going on in this forum. I don't think anyone here expects anyone else to swear an oath of fealty to any platform, X-Plane or otherwise, but at some point, a positive contribution to the discourse here from you would be nice.

As it stands, every time I see your name in a thread, I roll my eyes and say to myself, "Well, here we go again." I say this not to be a jerk, but because I think it needs to be said. I'd wager a pint or two that there are others here who feel the same way, and I'll accept the responsibility of speaking for them as well.

How about you make your own thread wherein you can post your laments whenever you see fit. If someone chooses to engage you, it's on them. The rest of us can enjoy the various other discussions without fear of a "Yes but that's just wrong. My 352583 hours flying every aircraft known to man tells me I'm right" randomly popping up.
