September 21, 201213 yr Hey, me again. I know I7's are probably the best for fsx, but specifically, which model is the best? Let the debate begin. Thanks! ORBX- the way to go Sincerely, John McGee
September 21, 201213 yr the i9 10ghz will be good around 2015  it will run fsx at 500fps
September 21, 201213 yr Get the best you can afford quite honestly. My i5 does a fantastic job and is reasonable. Giving your budget would be better than a debate I think. Randy Swofford
September 21, 201213 yr Author the i9 10ghz will be good around 2015  it will run fsx at 500fps  Funny! :LMAO: :LMAO: :LMAO: Until we come up with the 10 million to buy that, and after NASA reinvents the wheel to cool the beast, what is realistically the best? Okay, for a budget, I'd say about $1200 tops, preferably more like $1000. ORBX- the way to go Sincerely, John McGee
September 21, 201213 yr An i5-2500K based system oc'd will do very well. I built mine for $1500 and I run everything perfectly. You can get a cheaper card than mine like a 660 or 660ti and stay around $1200. Randy Swofford
September 23, 201213 yr Author An i5-2500K based system oc'd will do very well. I built mine for $1500 and I run everything perfectly. You can get a cheaper card than mine like a 660 or 660ti and stay around $1200. I have found one on a gaming website for $1250 with a GTX 670 3 GB and an Intel i7-3770K to 3.8 ghz. They will oc it another 20% for me. It has a liquid and air cooling with 2 fans on the cpu. I'm pretty convinced that my dog will be terrified if I get it, it looks like an alien spaceship! I have heard that 3770k's are running hot. Anyone have some temps and a suggestion (besides de-lidding, because I'd rather not destroy the CPU, as I'm not a computer savvy person) as to how to keep it cooler? I'd like to do 4.5 Ghz, if possible. ORBX- the way to go Sincerely, John McGee
September 23, 201213 yr I run mine at 4.7 24/7 and have never gone above 65c with the corsair h70 cooler.
September 23, 201213 yr Throw the computer into the freezer while overlocking it wonder if somebody done it yet.
September 23, 201213 yr Throw the computer into the freezer while overlocking it wonder if somebody done it yet. Can't be done. Besides water would kill it, condense water would start collecting as soon as you turn off, and the fridge compressor wouldn't be able to keep on, because there is no heat being pumped away. The fridge/freezer is a closed system. A much better idea is an a/c blowing cold air through the watercooling radiator! Or if you live in the cold part of the world, just put your radiator out!
September 23, 201213 yr A much better idea is an a/c blowing cold air through the watercooling radiator! I actually pulled this off one time... There is a vent in my house on the floor. - I cranked up the AC and put my PC on it! :Nerd: Temps were incredible... lol

ORBX- the way to go Sincerely, John McGee
September 23, 201213 yr I once put my computer in front of the windows, and for those who don't know, I have an external radiator for watercooling. Temps were wow... below 60c on full load. Outside it was below 0...
September 23, 201213 yr Outside it was below 0... What did your lady say? :LMAO:  Nice one Ben! ...Or you could get a Corsair H70, but what fun would that be? I actually have an H100... The cool air blowing over the radiator kept everything nice and cool.
