October 2, 201213 yr Good for you Jason!! Atta Boy!! Glad someone is making the right decision!!! At least someone has jumped in with a negative comment in this very positive start to a thread. Im not being negative, I thoroughly enjoy FSX and the many addons i have used for it over the years. FSX has not lost its luster for me after all this time, im probably flying it more now than i did when it was brand new. But i dont see the big appeal of P3D. It looks about the same as FSX to to me. And honestly, if i saw it on a shelf at wal mart or best buy, id probably buy it, i just love this genre that much. But the pricing model that LM has for it now is a BIG turn off for me. And it doesnt look like it is going to change anytime soon. Im not being negative, im being real.

It costs $50 for the educational license which even LM says is good for home use. I don't really see what going "full retail" is going to make a difference to you.

Thank you. I agree 110% I don't get paying "rent" for something you can get for a one time fee of 20 bucks. Instead of paying rent for PD, use that money on add-ons.
October 3, 201213 yr Here's a negative comment for you, because i believe in Yin and Yang. It's important to maintain the balance. :smile: FSX is at it's core incredibly old software, thats had new bits it can't handle properly bolted on by Microsoft. Who then charged us full price for the privilege. It's incredibly archaic, precisely why even with high end hardware it's a struggle to run. What it needs is to be scarped and written form scratch. It's crap, but all we have! That's better, now I feel that balance has been restored to our universe. I'm sure it's safe now for positive attitudes, without our universe being sucked back into higher dimensional space.
October 3, 201213 yr I somewhat agree with Martin, but I think as we are thankful for FSX, we should continue to explore new platforms as FSX continues to age. Let's not forget how important it is to have an exit strategy I'm excited to see what direction this community finally chooses as the successor to FSX. Anthony Cacciatore

Actually, it was when I asked her to 'bounce' my chair on touchdown, to improve the immersion.
