FSX Realistic Night!

Featured Replies

Do you guys find that night textures with this tool enabled are too dark? For instance, entering an NGX cockpit, I can't even see a shadow for the light switch, I had to click for a minute around the panel to accidentally click on the light switch. It does look better over the day, contrast is better, but the whole night experience is waaaay too dark and those flashes are there, no matter what.

ya its pretty dark in the ngx, and the flashes are getting on my nerves, anytime I bring up a 2d pop up, or a message is sent to my sim.

Ive been using Mogwaisoft Shade for FSX for over a yr. Designed specifically for FSX. IMO much more realistic.

I don't understand I'm not seeing any of these flashes - what situations do they occur under?

As for the dark cockpits, I too find them very dark with the lights off but I don't think this would be unrealistic? I would have thought you would have to go in there with a torch in the real world when it's dark with all the lights out. Once I've turned the lights on it has look very nice.

OK. The thing is leaving my sim.

RWFeldman: you are right. Shade does a pretty good job.

I like it a lot...I dont find it to dark, its better then ENB for the darkness ( but everyones system is different)

I like how theres a nice menu for the settings to, not like ENB..

Does anyone else's menus become just a little blurry with it on? Its not bad but noticable, I dont really care

thanks for posting this

cheers

ENB was crashing FSX for me, literally every 3-4 minutes, so it was unplayable.

I have been running this, for over 3 months now, flawlessly, and never got back.

Night is real night, dusk and dawn are real dusk and dawn.

It is the successor or ENB, and much much better, and much more stable.

Lee, the bluriness can be caused If you have SGSS enabled in NV inspector.

Try turning off SGSS and see if it goes away.

thanks, where is this exactly in inspector I cant find it.

Also I followed Nicks guide to setup Inspector, is it better to let Inspector handle AA or this?

thanks again

Under antialiasing transperancy supersampling.

Also I followed Nicks guide to setup Inspector, is it better to let Inspector handle AA or this?

I also use his guide, and let Inspector control the antialiasing, and only use this tool for the colour enhancements.

I can't seem to get FXAA to do anything, the sim won't even start. Does anyone have any clues? I tried the installer version and also the zipped version. I get this error with either:

FXAA_error.jpg

I have a GTX580 card and I set AA to "application controlled" in Nvidia Inspector, also I've been using ENB (without issues) so I moved my existing d3d9.dll and enbseries.ini into a backup folder for the test. With the zipped version I assume I should leave the "injFX_Shaders" folder intact? I disabled files one by one and determined that it was d3d9.dll that seems to be preventing the sim from starting, once I renamed it d3d9.dll.off the sim started normally. Is there something else I should mess with in Nvidia Inspector first? I also tried the installer version selecting preset #1 and again with preset #2. No joy either way, lol.

Thanks much,

Jim

EDIT: I didn't reinstall the sim as the error dialog suggests, I uninstalled FXAA with the provided uninstaller and the sim returns to normal.

I had the same problem. Just download the latest update/version of DX9 from Microsoft.

It's version © and once you install it copy the files again and that's it, run FSX again.

How is this tool uninstalled?

Just see in the original file which files belong to it, and delete them.

That did the trick L.A.M., much appreciated

Alejandro, if you used the installer version there should also be an option to uninstall in Control Panel > Programs & Features.

Will need to play around a bit with the configuration tool, currently using "preset #1" from the installer version. My AA initially looked terrible but I set "AA blur amount" to maximum (and ticked it "on" in the first place) which helped a lot on the 2nd try. Still not on par with my usual 32xS AA in Nvidia Inspector + ENB though. I do sort of like the overall effect however, it could be a keeper if I can get the AA smoothed up the way I want it.. Anybody have a favorite preset at this point?
