Oh, yes we did... 16OCT12

Captains-

Just a quickie for you tonight...

On projects as large as ours- there comes a point in the development cycle where members of the team start to openly wonder "are we ever going to finish this thing?" Then there comes a day in the development cycle where you look up and realize that the bird is really coming together nicely and it is starting to grow light on the eastern horizon...

For the 777, today was that day!

A few hours ago we pushed a 777 update to internal users that represents some pretty solid forward motion toward having a fully integrated Triple on our hands! The past few months have been particularly challenging, as we've been working with some of the extremely advanced core logic agreas that tend to cause cascading problems when they aren't done "just so." (I'm talking about advanced predictive methods, system control logic that manages key automated process and the like... The stuff that brings that "magic" to the product that is hard to describe- but noticable if it is absent.)

Fortunately we continue to receive a tremendous amount of **very significant** help when it comes to deciphering just what the airplane should do, how it should do it, and why. Some of these things will really demonstrate better in video than in still images, which is a shame because video is so bloody difficult to put together effectively when you have 2,000 other things competing for your time!

(Please Note: This was not a solicitation for anyone to offer to create videos for us... We don't do preview videos with outside help because of the obvious security concern... thanks for thinking of us, though!)

I am **not** going to make any reference to Alpha Testing, Beta Testing, Gamma Testing or Theta Testing. Nor will I offer any suggestions in relation to product release- as these topics tend to create a bunch of sideband drama that isn't helpful for anyone involved.

I will say that we aren't quite where we wanted to be in mid-October- but I mentioned back in August that we were experiencing a significant slowdown in progress rates that was pushing us further along in the calendar... We aren't seeing that drag any longer- and in fact I think we are seeing more progress than we anticipated over the past 30 days or so.

Okay- so lets sum up what I've just told you: Well- really nothing significant, other than to tell you that we're still here- we are working long hours- we are really happy with the fit, finish and completeness of the product we are creating for you- and we think she will exceed the capabilities and simulation value of the NGX.

So why tell you this? Well... Sometimes it is nice just ot let you know that yes, we are here- but we're pretty darned busy at the moment (which is a good thing!) Then of course, Ryan does a really good job of making me feel guilty if I go too long without talking to you guys- even (as in this case) if I am exceedingly busy and don't have anything to SHOW you... (I much prefer showing you stuff over telling you about stuff!) My default position is to presume that "they know we are working so when we have something else to say, we can update them at that time!" but Ryan insists you guys would rather hear from us a bit more often...

We have just a few more pieces to lock down and then I think we'll begin giving you some "show and tell" with various parts and pieces of the project. This one will be fun for you to fly!

Okay- I am back to triple-checking that we have correctly programmed which electrical items the left side load management controller preferences after a load shed event... Oh- and confirming the proper application of no-break power changes vs. normal power changes in the appropriate configurations. (Do I know how to have fun, or what?! B) )

I'll be back with a bigger update on "Everything PMDG" to include all current in-work products. I think you'll be surprised how far along things are moving!

Yeah, we all owe a huge "thank you" to Ryan for using his great power of persuasion. Thank you, Ryan :P

If I knew how to play with PhotoShop, I'd wright something like "Your lack of communication is bad, and you should feel bad". But I found this one on Google, which means pretty much the same thing.
