REX Latitude

Featured Replies

I still get missing takeoff after going in and out of settings. This time I changed the amount of AI traffic. Running P3D 1.4.

I'll check this out under FSX, and P3D. For now, I would suggest you change settings before the flight.

So how is everyone doing with Latitude? I am having lots of fun with it. In the last three days my skills have moved up a LOT thanks to Latitude! I didn't know I was such a bad pilot and there was so much room for improvement! Specially my landings sucked and also approaching wasn't too good. With the help of Latitude I practiced landings yesterday (you can very well practice only landings or approaches) and it clearly showed me where I went wrong everytime. Today I did a flight using VOR only and no AP, all through hazy England skies, and landed on a runway withtout PAPI or anything with a 100% approach and a good landing. Awesome! Latitude REALLY adds a lot to FSX: excitement and a lot of satisfaction when things go well. Awesome addon!

Thanks J van E... I'm glad we've turned you from a hesitant user to a great proponent.

Latitude is concentrated on your skill in flying, while SimAir will be more concentrated toward management/business aspect of aviation.

John has done a great job of explaining REX Latitude, however, I wanted to expand upon, and offer a clearer picture of what SIMAIR is about.

SIMAIR is a massive multiplayer add-on for FSX, P3D, and FS2004. There will be two levels in which to operate. SIM CARRIER and SIMPILOT.

SIMCARRIER gives the user or a group of users the ability to create an air carrier to compete against other carriers. These carriers can compete at four different levels: Bush pilots, Cargo Carrier, International/Domestic Carrier, or Regional Carrier. Each company can comprise of one manager or multiple managers. As a company it is your goal to attract new customers and increase your profit. As a company you are responsible for managing everything from purchasing hubs, aircraft, advertising, upgrading ticketing technology, to preventing a hostile takeover by another company, virtual or real. It's much more in-depth than this, however I will keep it short until we are closer to release.

As a SIMPILOT you have the option to fly for one of the SIM CARRIERS. You can track your progress in your own personal pilot log and earn reputation and income. Be careful to do well as a pilot or your personal pilot profile will be affected as well as the reputation of the SIM CARRIER. If you fail to perform well, you run the risk of being fired. Of course SIMAIR gives you the ability to counter-sue for damages, and our virtual court may rule in your favor.

A virtual airline will find REX SIMAIR easy to integrate into their daily operations. More on this as we get near release.

I'm really looking forward to Simair. Sounds like a load of fun.

something wrong with your isp??

mine loads in about 15secs

I agree, I use Rex 2.0 Overdrive on FSX and Rex Overdrive for FS9 and both load the weather in under 15-20 seconds. I read all the time where people complain it takes to long for the weather to load. I would say it takes just as long to load a webstie for real world weather, nothing loads in 1 second, but REX's weather loads fast in my opinion.

So will SimAir effectively include Latitude?

Do these two products have overlapping features?

Why should someone buy both and not simply wait for SimAir?

I do not want to be offensive by any means, I am seriously considering to buy Latitude. I just would like to know if I should purchase both or just wait for SimAir.

By the way, as I frequently fly in FSEconomy, it seems that Latitude is a great complement to FSE..

FSE seems to have much in common with SimAir. The only thing it seriously lacks is the pilot evaluation feature, which Latitude complements really well.

So the options are:

1) FSEconomy + Latitude

2) Simair + Latitude ? or just SimAir?

I am an FSEconomy user too, and I must say that using Latitude with FSE adds a lot of fun. Typically I use FSE to choose the airplane/route/payload and then use Latitude to setup the flight.

The fun starts when you realize that to have good Latitude scores you really need to optimize the airplane/route/payload and the type of flight (ferry or charter). In a sense, I use Latitude as a substitute for the quite crude earning score you get in FSEconomy.

It will be very interesting to understand how/if SimAir will be a replacement of FSEconomy and how it will integrates with Latitude, but I guess we will have to wait for the release date to have an answer. Personally I am probably not very interested in the Virtual Airline/SimCarrier stuff, but I am definitely interested in everything that can add more reality to my flights as a private (virtual) pilot.

Cheers,

PB111
