Extreme Northernmost Arctic Operations!

Featured Replies

Shalom and greetings all my pals,

Long long long long before the famous tv show ICE PILOTS NWT that made Buffalo Airways famous throughout the world, Pacific Western airline had been doing JET VERSION of ICE PILOTS NWT tv show for years operating to unimaginable northernmost Arctic Canada areas with freezing subzero weather!!!!

This photo as seen below has amazed and motivated me to make a nice flight in northernmost Arctic Canada areas!!

Here is Pacific Western flight from CYRB Resolute Bay Airport to CYLT Alert Airport which is the world's northernmost permanent airport located at Alert, Nunavut, Canada approximately 500 miles south of the true North Pole.

Loaded up with lots of cargo and passengers

Nice tail view

Took me 40 minutes to start engines in Resolute Bay which is one of the coldest inhabited places in the world!!!!

Sorry still trying to start engines

Finally after starting engines now entering into icy runway 17 for more taxi and backtracking

Looks cold!

Very nice series, Aharon. If you're in the mood for another real-world route in extreme northern Canada, my former employer used to fly a private 727-100 combi between Edmonton and Lupin (CYWO), ferrying mine workers and equipment back and forth every week. Lupin was a gravel strip, which made it even more interesting, but sadly the mine and the airport are now closed. You can find pictures of the "Billie Dean" on A-net, if you search for 727-100's at CYEG - in fact, it's the same plane as the one in your screenshots - C-FPXD. It later went to First Air.

I've had the privilege of working up there every once a while. It's definitely a great region to try! It's a shame there isn't more comprehensive scenery for the region. Tree's in Resolute Bay! That'd be the day. As a famous Resolute resident once said: "Why did I move here? They promised me a women behind every tree!".

I like the shots of Alert!

I highly recommend you give TinMouse's 737 a try and simulate some Canadian North/First Air routes as well!

I'll leave you with this parting shot from CYXP! You're always welcome to visit!

ok the bit about you having a hard time starting your engines was that just "story" or is that part actually simulated?

Ciao!

Brian, not story not simulated Sometimes it is easy and quick to start aging engines of Vistaliners 727-200s. Sometimes it takes 20 minutes for me to try to start the engines!!!! This time, took me 40 minutes!!!!

Computers are not perfect science!!!
