November 10, 201213 yr Moderator It also carries acts of inhumanity against other religions, repression of the sciences, violent forceful rule over people, and even worst unmentionable acts! “People don’t need an important issue to fight about. They’ll take anything available and inflate it to the size they need.”(1634: The Ram Rebellion, p. 368 by Eric Flint) The quoted statement is nothing more nor less than an astute recognition of the propensity for humans to use any pretext whatever to take offense. It matters not at all whether it is real or imaginary. Quod erat demonstrandum! In actual fact, this quote comes from a work of fiction written by Eric Flint, my neighbor and friend. Fr. November 10, 201213 yr Moderator an interesting paper on Strategic Corporate Ambiguity - http://mansci.journal.informs.org/content/27/10/1158.abstract if you consider the date of the abstract, it would seem that ambiguity has been a legitimate corporate strategy for years. When you are specific, you are in a box - leave it open to interpretation and you have much more feedom. As Bill said - some peole just have to look a gift horse in the mouth. If you feel comfortable, then use P3D - if not - then do not. But then how about you (generic) just STFU and let the rest enjoy it. ther than building the post count, it really is an inane topic that has been beaten to dethn for months, IMHO. November 10, 201213 yr How do you manage to interpret "If you're not using it in an actual learning-to-fly scenario, you're in breach" as meaning "If you're using it in an actual learning-to-fly scenario, you're in breach", I looked again at the NOT you mentioned, and where it appears. To parse the paragraph bit-by-bit: 14.1 "Academic Education" ("Here is our definition of academic:") means education programs for elementary through undergraduate students in fundamental academic disciplines such as science, technology, engineering and math, including history and social sciences related thereto, ("It's for learning in various subject areas at various loosely-defined levels") but NOT in connection with professional training or certification of any kind, including, but not limited to, military training, emergency responder training, commercial flight training, private pilot training, air traffic control training, airport ground control/logistics training, driver training or nautical training. ("but it's not for commercial or private pilot or other forms of training or certification") ...which would be the type of use for which the Professional licence is needed. Unless that's exactly what you meant in your earlier post and I misread it - that or your more recent post, in which case apologies for the confusion. H it really is an inane topic that has been beaten to dethn for months, IMHO. I did a bit of searching and found this: http://forum.avsim.n...n/#entry2216411 . So you're right, further argument is redundant. Apologies for my part in the flogging of the dead horse... . (At least it counts as exercise...) H
November 10, 201213 yr Amazing how all his legal paranoia and fear-mongering ruins our ability to use an exciting new product that could bring new life to our dying hobby. And for no other reason than some dumb bit of paper. Man kind really is it's own worst enemy. I'm quite tired of these debates frankly. Of all the really important things happening in the world right now this little issue doesn't even come on the radar. Use it or don't just make your decision and suck it up. All this arm-chair lawyering is so try-hard and pathetic it almost makes me want to post an eye-rolling smiley every time some serious dude comes to chip-in and lay down his almighty god-inspired view of the law. Honestly just get over yourselves! That's my rant for the day =). Maybe Avsim should just ban discussion of this topic again.
November 10, 201213 yr Maybe Avsim should just ban discussion of this topic again. Banning it wasn't a very popular decision in our community. After some time, management decided there's no benefit to any of us to block discussion of it -- and within days of allowing it, some very interesting official licensing discussions emerged from the community's developers and LM due to the interest (as seen on the front page news). There is good that can emerge from intellectual conversation on this matter. With that being said, let's please keep this topic productive. November 11, 201213 yr Funny, now that we can freely talk about it nobody is posting.... :Clown: Chase, can you point me out to the front page where discussions emerged from the developers and LM, I missed it. Thank you. Edit: Chase, I found the article, good to go.
November 11, 201213 yr Alain, next time I am through your town, I will insist we have a coffee together, we can then see who is the most tendentious of the two! KInd regards, Ian McPhail

LOL, anytime Ian, it would be my pleasure to have a drink with you, I don't drink coffee but I'm sure I can find something to have with you.
