November 6, 201213 yr Was rather hoping the pillow would be dry by now Hendo.... Well....I ran out of tears. hmm hendo if you do not care , why the effort to post here ? What am I or am I not caring about and where did I say that? well it looks like this thread revive the original purpose of the ORBX forums , bashing all around glad to see it kick a little life in the place ! Well I'm certain that two of the most respected people here, Tom and Stephen, set out do just that then, didn't they?
November 6, 201213 yr Author Well I'm certain that two of the most respected people here, Tom and Stephen, set out do just that then, didn't they? Well now, leave Tom and I out of this as we are both as innocent and pure as the driven snow!
November 6, 201213 yr Never seen snow Stephen Clearly not..... .... what a silly comment about Tom and Stephen.... (and what a great retort from Stephen!). I hope the Unofficial ORBX Forum will stay. I am not, and never have been banned from the Orbx Forum, but although I used to do a lot of voluntary promotional videos and stuff for them in the early days, I do not like nor respect the way John has put so much personal ego into that forum; banning paying customers for ridiculous reasons, that are essentially just petty dents on that ego. And so, I have found the Unoffical ORBX forum here, a better place to visit for Orbx news and views. As others have conveyed, I also fail to distinguish how posts that are essentially the same in basis (EG. "Product X is released!" can be construed as advertising on the Unofficial Orbx Forum, but are seen as fair game on other Vendor Sub-Forums here at AVSIM. Finally, for people saying that Orbx is the only good thing in the hobby - that's ridiculous! ... I have just counted, and I own 12 Orbx products, but my main interest in Airliner flying, in Europe, in OPUS weather B) ..... and despite really liking the Orbx products, I have not been near an Orbx area nor airport for 6 months.... and I'm blissfully happy in the sim and the hobby! Orbx stuff, while being beautiful and of the highest quality, is fairly 'sectioned' in it's appeal IMHO .... if you are not so interested in GA and/or Australasian / Western North American flying, then it is by no means an essential part of the hobby. November 6, 201213 yr Never one to want to silence anybody, or stifle any opinion, but as I thought the section now stayed there seems to be a danger that it's turning into a renewed ORBX slagging? :( The wrong that started the section was nearly a year ago now and many newcomers have no idea what it was or how widespread and unjustified that wrong was. We, well at least those whov'e been banned for ludicrous reasons, ALL know where the problem lies and it seems to be one individual. The devs whenever they get to post all seem the same helpful types that in my experience most add-on developers are? If this topic is now resolved dare I suggest it's outlived it's usefulness? I suspect that the release of FTX England will generate more topics and the news of North American developments will doubtless prompt more discussion. The value of the section to me is that we can have those discussions, compare the FTX stuff with other products, compatability issues etc. without stupid moderation so lets use it for that. ^_^ The root problem is hardly likely to change? ....so doubtless more posts of exasperation will follow but that's what mates are for isn't it? To share these issues? Geoff Geoff Brown
November 6, 201213 yr Geoff, Newcomers should know what Orbx is all about, good and bad, good products but bad customers relationship management, still today, and you'r a perfect example with your five days ban. The topic you are talking about was never resolved, unless I've missed a press released from John at Orbx, I did not read anything from him making amends on the way he threated his GOOD paying customers. You are right about one thing... The root problem is hardly likely to change? ...does that mean that we have to sweep it off under the rug or make believe it never happened just because it's over a year ago? What just happened to you is not old. Don't get me wrong here, to each his own and I say that without prejudice what so ever but as long as I see more peoples been banned just because they asked a reasonable question I'll raise my voice denouncing their poor customers relationship management and will at the same time respect your opinion on the subject.
November 6, 201213 yr Alain I spent a great deal of my life, contrary to my education, as a technician. If a bit of kit you're using for a job is less than perfect you don't abandon the job. You use the facilities you have that do work and get the job done. IF ALL the kit is unusable you may have to abandon the job altogether and press on with another task. From where I sit we're looking at one flaky tool in an otherwise brilliant tool kit? If anyone can show me that the rest of the kit is no good either I may have to revise my idea. In any task you encounter obstacles and idiots. You just have to work round them. Many times in my life I've been forced down roads I didn't really choose, but you have to make the most of what each path has to offer and I'm still here so my motto would have to be "adapt and survive". I don't really want to rake over old coals, and the evidence is long since removed, but I would point out that I was one of the loudest complainers at the shoddy treatment and it is not forgotten. I just choose a different course of action to yourself that's all. Geoff Geoff Brown
November 7, 201213 yr Geoff, All Orbx products (bits) are of a very good quality, no problems with that what so ever, you can surely do the job with the tools (sceneries) you have, the problem is not the tool you'r using, the problem is the after sales customers relationship. If I go back to my hardware store to raise a reasonable question I have about the way they did me when selling me the bit or about a sticker on the tool box ( five days ban) and the only thing I get out of the sellers is them showing me the way out the door I don't think I'll be buying from them again. There is a lot of other very good tools company out there, here is a example.. KLAX http://www.fsdreamte...ducts_klax.html Now that's a VERY GOOD airport and if you'r flying in DX10 the immersion as been raised a lot. Again Geoff, I respect your opinion very much so but the bit example is not what's wrong over there as their tool are good.
