Boeing ad

Featured Replies

Wow, it's nice to see the Boeing 7E7 ad at avsim. Boeing also posted the same ad at a.net :D

Yep, great fun!I wonder how many 7E7's they'll sell?Ah well, they can't be much more expensive then that 737NG that was released a week or two ago... :-hah Best,Martijn

Hi,I thought it was pretty cool too. In the the little flash demo I thought that angle of descent for landing looked pretty steep though!Cheers,Jim

Laughing my arse off..

Yes, we are pretty proud of that. Boeing has elected to advertise on AVSIM, and we are flattered they selected us. We see it as Boeing's first (that we know of) direct support of the flight simulation community. If you get a chance, write Boeing and let them know you appreciate their support of our hobby!

I'd say their working with Microsoft in licensing the use of their name and models in MSFS predates the advertising campaign for the 7E7 :)

Yes, I suppose, but I meant that this is their first DIRECT support of the flight simulation community itself that I am aware of. I know you will correct me if I am wrong.. :)

I think that's pretty cool! Congratulations to Tom, AVSIM, and basically to all of us ;)VOlker :]

I for one think it's great. We all love this hobby and to see the support from a major airline manufacturer just adds a little something special to the hobby.Andrew

It may well be. Of course Flight1 is working together with ATR to model the ATR72 which goes further than Boeings work with MS but except assigning time and expertise for testing and advise I don't think there's a financial input there.

Of course Flight1 is working together with>ATR to model the ATR72 which goes further than Boeings work>with MS but except assigning time and expertise for testing>and advise I don't think there's a financial input there.I agree-- it is/was a fairly standard piece of advertising work. Boeing are at least sufficiently aware that there are a sizeable number of people in the world who are aircraft enthusiasts - and more particularly, an also fairly sizeable number of these happen to be FSim enthusiasts - so they put out a website to appeal to these people. It's not an especially big deal - for me there wasn't much on that website to attract or keep my attention. It could just as easily have been an advertorial in a magazine. Now , IF there had been a freeware Boeing 7E7 of the quality of the upcoming Dreamfleet ATR, then I would have said "WOW"! :)Barry

>I wonder how many 7E7's they'll sell?Reading various press cuttings at work, they've apparently got 200 orders for the plane so far (these are not firm orders though). I believe they only started taking orders this year so that's pretty good.>Ah well, they can't be much more expensive then that 737NG that was >released a week or two ago... :-hah:-D It's good PR and product exposure for them. How far further they'll support the fs community would be interesting (could they develop their own add on aircraft in the name of good publicity?).Anyway, what the airline passengers like influences what airliners will eventually buy. Me? I like the Embraers - 2+1 seating, small queues & little waiting for your baggage the other end! I hope British Airways buys some more of those little planes. Others no doubt have their favourites for different reasons (cheap tickets, looks cool etc..)Anthony Dyer

> It's not an>especially big deal - for me there wasn't much on that website>to attract or keep my attention. ????What counts is the gesture and not what is in the ad. Boeing is not going to sell one single 7E7 extra because of this ad. This community is fairly small anyway - it hardly makes a dent in Boeing's public relation campaign.Michael J.
