Boeing 787 Landing at CYYZ

Featured Replies

Hey all, so today was the 1st day a scheduled commercial 787 landed at pearson international airport.. It was Ethiopian Air flight 502. So its scheduled arrival time was 720am Local time, so my wife and I got up at 5:30 this morning, and drove the 65 minutes out to CYYZ to watch it land..

I know, I drove over 2 hours both directions for quite literally 10 seconds worth of watching an airplane land.. :)

I had my first 787 sighting a few weeks ago, a JAL one at Moscow Domodedovo airport. It was parked next to the aircraft I was on, I was looking out of the window and thought "that says Boeing 787 on it".

It was just a week or two after I first saw a 747-8 (Lufthansa) at Frankfurt. I was on a bus out to the aircraft I was going on and we drove around the back of it, I didn't take much notice until I saw the engines and realised what it was.

Might be a while now until my next "new aircraft" sighting, we're not expecting to see the A350 for a few years yet are we?

Eamonn,

That was a wonderful 10 seconds though!

Kind regards,

Great video. I first saw a 787 (N787BX) here in YBBN in May, when it was on the Dream Tour. It only stayed 7 hours before departing south to YSSY. I haven't seen a 787 since, but they'll become a regular sight late next year when Jetstar gets its first batch. I really cannot wait.

Thanks,

Kevin L

I got a chance to see one of the test aircraft when it flew into KDCA for the presentation of the Collier Trophy.

  • 2 weeks later...

The engines look almost as big as the fuselage

Now that's dedication!

I love seeing the evolution of aircraft design. The B787 seems so elegant—maybe too much so. I prefer the "more-conventionally beautiful" appearances of the A330, B747, and B777. To me, the B777 is nearly perfect, besides the awkward curve where the fuselage meets the nose.

2 hours of driving for a 10 second memory that'll last a lifetime. Sounds fair to me.
