United 737-700 KBOS to KEWR

Featured Replies

Hi folks, this is the 2nd of my "series" of visual diaries of my flights in the PMDG NGX, flying real world routes. For this thread, I am flying a 737-700 as UAL1057 for a short hop between KBOS and KEWR, a 1 hour flight. Chocks off time was 12:58PM, and Chocks on at KEWR was 02:41PM. SID is PATSS, using runway 22R, cruise altitude was only 14000ft, and the STAR was FLOSI2.

Taxi out after push back, notice the Air Canada Express CRJ (Formerly Air Canada Jazz livery)

Progressing down the taxiway on my way to runway 22R, with a US Airways EMB-190 on climb out

Holding to allow a Japan Airlines 787 to get in front of me in the queue for takeoff. This is the first time I've witnessed the 787 as AI in FSX, a milestone!!

That 787 is now barreling down the runway, on it's way to Tokyo Narita Airport. Sayanora my friend!

I am cleared to position and hold, with a Delta A330 seconds away from arrival to runway 22L.

Climbout!

Goodbye downtown Boston. I begin the sharp left turn at 520 feet to comply with the strict noise abatement procedures in place.

Nice outside shot on the climbing turn to the east to follow the PATSS SID

Looking back at the airfield, getting ready for another sharp turn to the Southwest.

Admiring KBOS from overhead, just minutes away from TOC at 14000ft.

I believe the 700 is the best looking of all the NGs, something about the short body just appeals to me.

ATC instructs me to descend to 5000 feet early due to a rush of traffic ahead. Must be quite noisy for the NJ residents below.

On short finals for KEWR runway 04R, with the Goethals Bridge below, connecting Elizabeth NJ to Staten Island NY. During childhood trips to visit relatives in New York, I used to travel on this bridge many times, and one can get a nice view of Newark Intl from the bridge.

Verrazano-Narrows Bridge in the distance, I'm seconds away from touchdown!

Welcome to Newark! Love the view of Manhattan.

Taxing to Gate C122, here we have the terminal where all of United Express's Dash-8s call homebase at KEWR.

Carefully lining up by following the marshaller's instructions. Notice the city of Newark to the left.

Oh, the FS2004 version works? Any tweaks necessary?

Nice pics.

Yes, this is the FS9 version. I found that most FS9 airport addons work in FSX, you just need to open the AFCAD in an AFCAD editor (like Flight1's AFX, or the freeware Airport Design Editor) for some minor editing to make it FSX compatible.

What Boston city and KBOS scenery are you using? Pics look great!

Great shots.

Can you elaborate about what kind of editing ?

Thanks

I'm also curious. I thought all those sceneries were done.
