November 28, 201213 yr My screen resolution is 1920x1080x16. I have been running FSX at 1920x1050x32 in the FSX program. The question is this, should I continue on or run FSX @ 1920x1080x16? The sim seems to run fine as it is. However if I might damage something or get a better picture with the change, that is the 64 dollar question? RLJR

RLJR You can run FSX however you want as long as your monitor/graphics card can support it. Play with the resolutions to find one you enjoy. You might try a lower resolution for more FPS or go all out and Max everything for better visuals. The choice is yours.
November 28, 201213 yr Your choice of resolution should be the highest and best your equipment will support. I would only use a lesser or lower resolution if performance is impacted by a FPS hog. I use 1920 x 1200 32 bit on a 24 IN widescreen and have never considered a lesser resolution. Ray When Pigs Fly . Ray Marshall .
November 28, 201213 yr Hmmm. I would have said match the resolution in the sim to the monitor's native resolution...Why is your resolution 1920x1080x16 and not 1920x1080x32? I would think your screen resolution and FS resolution should both be 1920x1080x32. Personally I run at 2560x1600 at 60 FPS at 16XS/Supersampling AA levels. Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk
November 28, 201213 yr Author What is the differance between 16bit and a 32bit. With my wide screeen at its max at 16 bit will the FSX @ 32bit setting have any inhanced performace?
November 28, 201213 yr Unless you use a 20 year old monitor you can run 32 bit color (x32). You should always try to run the monitor at its stock resolution as that will give the best image xuality, in your case 1920x1080x32! Simmerhead - Making the virtual skies unsafe since 1987!
November 28, 201213 yr Modern display devices will ALWAYS give the highest display quality when driven at their native resolution. I'm not sure why you'd want to force the resolution you're using - you'll get somewhat poorer quality due to the interpolation going on, and some minor aspect ratio issues as well (stretching in the vertical axis). About the only reason to run less than native is if your system just doesn't have the horsepower to drive things, but the differences between what you're running and your native resolution shouldn't really make that much difference in performance.
