DX10 Rain Fix Shader (Surround Too!)

Recommended Posts

Matt,

Thanks for the rain fix. I finally found some rain on the west coast to give it a good test.

Great job, Paul for keeping the "How To doc" up to date. Pretty soon we may have to call it a manual.

It should fix it for both, but I have not tested DX9. The shader cache for DX9 is just "Shaders" instead of "Shaders10", so you would delete that instead.

I could not get this to work with DX9 P3D.

Has anybody tried it with FSX in DX9 mode?

I tried this with DX9 FSX tonight but it didn't seem to work. Still had a cone on my triple monitor (5768x1080).

Replaced the rain40.fx in the shaders folder and deleted the "shaders" cache folder as specified.

It's possible that some other rendering process is used for DX9. They may be using fixed function rendering somewhere in the code, in which case we wouldn't be able to touch it.

Does anybody know about the rendering process for DX9?

The rain fix has no impact or connection with DX9.

Its weird how the restricted rain cone is visible only when the aircraft is in the air.

On the ground the rain always seems to fill all three monitors.

This is for vc and external views.

Could this be a clue to what's happening?

It shouldn't work in P3D!!

It's made to fix/repair the Rain40.fx file which is inside the "misc" folder in the FSX\ShadersHLSL\   folder.

You are lucky that there isn't a file in P3D called Rain40.fx.   :O

Paul are you talking about P3DV2.

I definitly have a Rain40.fx file there.

It doesn't matter what version of P3D it is, gb.

The Rain40.fx file contains C++ code which governs FSX - DX10 effects as existed in 2007.

P3D uses - to the best of my knowledge - DX11, and so this file is very likely redundant - simply left there, to be removed at some future date. I would certainly not expect seven-year-old code to be used in a program written in 2013.
