December 7, 201213 yr Author I'm personally not sure what to think of the idea, the pilots seem to be in favour of a merger, and we usually make good decisions about how an airline should be run and the direction it should take for the most part. I guess we'll have to watch and see how it works out... Regards, Ró. Rónán O Cadhain.
December 8, 201213 yr I don't think US Air is ready for that yet. They are still divided east and west. I hope Hawaiian buys us so I don't have to interview! Chris Miller
December 8, 201213 yr As per the title. http://my.chicagotri...e/p2p-73612409/ Regards, Ró. This has been expected for some time. We're not happy about it in Phoenix, because US Airways would plan on running the combined company from Dallas--meaning probable closure of their current HQ in Tempe, plus the jobs that go along with it. December 8, 201213 yr Didn't US airways have the lowest customer approval rating this year? Don't know where AA stands but I'm sure it's not towards the bottom. Too bad for them if they do merge. Sent from my iPhone...typing errors imminent AJ Pongress

Sent from my iPhone...typing errors imminent It's been years since I've flown on AA, but I did fly them three times to Europe back in the late 80's and early 90's and they were my airline of choice. As for USAirways, except for the lousy bag fee, which is unavoidable when you travel with a wife and daughter, I like them. But my favorite airline over the past few years is Hawaiian. We flew their 767 nonstop from Phoenix to Honolulu last year, and we really liked the service from their gate agents to their flight attendants. I remember eating dinner on the way home and I was still hungry, so the flight attendant offered a second dinner--not just for me, but for others around who asked. On an unrelated note--I've had the pleasure of flying in some type of aircraft every year for the last 35 years. This year will be the first year I haven't flown in anything--not unless I call my CFI and schedule a lesson in his Challenger. He's been encouraging me to resume my lessons. John
December 8, 201213 yr It's about time something official happens! Not gonna Happen. At least...I hope not.... I'm not sure what makes you say that! It's been brewing for quite some time now -- the whisperings started some 2 years ago. I don't think US Air is ready for that yet. They are still divided east and west. Still! And that merge happened 7 years ago! Didn't US airways have the lowest customer approval rating this year? Don't know where AA stands but I'm sure it's not towards the bottom. Too bad for them if they do merge. I'm not sure how passengers can expect good service when they pay 60 bucks for a fare. US Airways has a tough time competing with other full service airlines, and can't compete in the low fare, no frills niche. Fortunately, they've shown some record profits this year and should take that opportunity to buy up AA "while the gettin's good". If nothing else, I'll be able to spot more 737NGs at KCLT. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules
December 8, 201213 yr I'm not sure what makes you say that! It's been brewing for quite some time now -- the whisperings started some 2 years ago. I don't know, i just don't think it will happen. I think instead of having 2 airlines with lots of possabilitys (in terms of hubs, destinations etc), it will turn into 1 airline with "quite a large amount" not lots.... Just my predictions.... Hey, i was right about JAL not leaving oneworld a few years back... -ANDY GREENFlight Diary Account : http://flightdiary.net/SpeedBird7735 Hours experience in Grob 115, 30 minutes in Grob 102 10 Hours in Grob 109 PLUS SOLO! 23rd November 2013!
December 8, 201213 yr I wonder what that livery would look like... Can't look any worse then the United/Continental merger. Ugh. Sent from my iPhone...typing errors imminent AJ Pongress

We'll see what happens, but I can't see any real apparent reason for the proposition to fall through. I wonder what that livery would look like... I would wager the US Airways colors would go away. I would bet even more surely that the US Airways name will be dropped for the American name. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules

Zach, That has already been decided. American Airlines will be the surviving carrier. The corporate offices will move to Dallas. It's just a matter for the money people to work it out. this will be my 4th merger in 33 years. Thank God I only have three years to retirement.
