QW 757, A little help please

Featured Replies

Im thinking about the QW757, I have the BAE146 from them and love it, Im wondering if the detail is similar in the 757 as to the 146?

Im aware of the other brands ie CS and JF and im not interested in them for several reasons

So if any one, who has both 146 and 757 from QW could you tell me please, is it safe to assume I'm going to see the same quality and attention to detail as the 146 in the 757?

Thank you

Hi!

I have both and think that the 757 is less complex than the Avros.

Attention to detail? Overall I'd say 7.5 out of 10

Visually The 757 cockpit seems pretty good to me. You can see for yourself on YouTube. My personal favorite is the glass refit (more glass for your glass cockpit!)

Outside the 757 looks good. Plenty of free liveries compliment the free variants.

If you mean attention to detail systems wise then I'd say 5 of 10. The 757 is complexity simplified. Maybe not to CLS levels but there are a fair amount of non functioning buttons.

If you mean sound then the QW has a very good sound set.

I'd say that you should pick it up if you need a 757 and aren't looking for a heavy systems simulation.

If you have experience with and enjoy large, glass-cockpit jetliners such as the PMDG B737 and B747, you may find the complexity of the B757 to be slightly shallow. After flying the PMDG B747, I find it difficult to downgrade complexity-wise to the QW B757. Even the little details, such as the automatic switching of the gear from UP to OFF and the simplified FMC, take bits away from the realism factor.

The exterior model is only decent, apart from the HD repaints, which are excellent. The aileron/spoiler and wing flex animations are superb, as are the sounds.

Basically, if you're happy with the complexity of the BAE 146, the B757 may be suitable for you, although you will probably outgrow it after digging into more-complex payware aircraft.

I like the QW B757. It flies well and flight plans fairly close. The FMS is fairly simple, but functional. The FMS reminds me of IGS gauges which I like. Although all the buttons don't work those that are really needed do work. I would buy it again. I also own the PMDG B747, MD11, B737NGX and JS41.

I use the NGX and 74s regularly and thinking of something different to kill time, While im a fan of level D its very dated to look at and the CS birds for me are frame hungry and QW seems like a safe choice for another tube

I might do some you tube searches

It's no where near as complex as the Avro. But it's still a good plane great for when you want to get in the air fairly quickly. The FMC is complete enough for an entire flight plan with SID/STARs and the sound set is phenomenal.

If you are used to really digging into the proper operations and systems of these two aircraft, you might find something lacking in the B757. I am not highly proficient with much outside the realm of B747 normal procedures, yet I still find the B757 to be lacking in some aspects.

I would avoid the 757. It is nothing like the avro/146. it gives me poor FPS and not much at all is modeled. Hoping they will revisit it sometime as I think their avro/146 pack is one of the best addons available for FSX. I find it hard to believe the same developer made it they are so different.

Hi Matt,

Sorry, I don't belong in the requested cohort, but I can compare it against PMDG NGX, 747, J41 and I can say it's very pleasant to fly. As a user of GSX, I find it quick to work the exterior doors, set & release wheel chocks, set up the FMC and it all works quite well. Engine start up sounds are great, and other sound elements are great. No, not the depth of the others, but truthfully it's my go-to bird and has been for quite a while now. What you get w/ the 757 is one of the hottest airliners for thrust:weight ratio. The -200 is great for taking off shorter runways as you find at KJAC, with fabulous climb rates possible. I think that is why I fly like to the 757 more--makes the NGX feel like a tired dog, lovely dog that it is. Wake me up though if PMDG does the 757 :O)

Many thanks guys, from what Im hearing, its good quality but compared to others its "simplistic"

Yes it's much more simplified than PMDG, iFly or even the Avro. But if you like the 757 it's still a lot of fun and a good quality add on.

Well the world supposed to end today so I thought I better pull my finger out and get it

overall Im happy after playing around with the qw757.cfg and putting the entries i like in it and taking it for a fly, yeah I can say yes its no PMDG but its something thats quick and easy and FDC (aerosoft's flight deck companion) works well, The VC isnt HD but im fine with that

one thing I didnt like was the external view distance, for me it was set to far away, yes i can zoom in but then the scenery becomes blurred, but this was easy fixed by editing the .mdl's view distance

using PMDG NGX as a bench mark of 10

VC, 7

systems 7

FMC 5

sounds 9

ease: 10

textures: 7

Glad to hear that you did not disappoint yourself. Have fun with one of the most beautiful commercial aircraft!
