The "Little Things" thread

Featured Replies

Hey guys I'm new here and I just purchased the 737NGX and I'm loving it so far. Soooo much to learn as I am so used to flying the default FSX 737. But I'm coming around slowly.

Anyway, I was playing around with it today and I was enjoying the little attentions to detail that the team at PMDG took to the time to put into the sim. I figured I'd start a thread on just the little things that you guys notice and appreciate. I for one love when you know the engines are working hard or dialed back while climbing just by the way they sound. It's little things like that that make me enjoy flying this plane.

I would be interested in hearing about little touches that you guys found and appreciate.

I absolutely love when you're coming in for a landing at night, and as you cross the runway threshold, you can see your strobes flashing on the ground. That just gets me every time for some reason; it makes me feel like I actually have wings behind me.

I like the hum of the engines somewhere around 40 % n2 during startup, I can almost feel the vibrations in my chair :D

Two miles of road can take you two miles. Two miles of runway can take you anywhere in the world

That moment when you advance the throttle to around 40% N1 and engage TOGA.

Or, the rumblr of the flaps and spoilers. And the shaking of the wing.

I love the deep bass at ~ 50 % N1. I remember on a recent flight in a 738 during descend it was the EXACT same sound and that just got me there.

If I could just open the windows now :( (I remember the F/O taking a pic of myself when I was sitting on his seat, my right hand out of the window, 30-35° C outside, damn that was a nice day!)

Three greens!

I find it most impressive that you find an actual subsystem simulation behind the respective switches. Flipping those switches does not just trigger a state machine which lights up some annunciators or brings gauges to read the proper values. Here, you can almost feel hydraulic pressure building up or spar valves' motors working.

And the standby instruments are fully modeled.

I've never seen a simulation with so much attention to detail.

The downside of this is that I cannot bear any addon anymore that does not meet NGX quality standards.

Tried a recently released Airbus addon and ... sigh ... I know the NGX totally spoiled me.

I really like the engine ignition , makes you think : now i can go anywhere.

Haven't tried the Leonardo MD-82, eh?

Thanks,

Too bad LSH will not continue developing, a new VC complete with steam gauges would be very very nice...

Yeah, it would be great if they did that, since most of us only fly VC these days. That means I'll never see the analogue cockpit. If I really wanted those round gauges I would buy the new Coolsky DC-9 and merge its cockpit with a native MD-80 model. I've been thinking about doing that, but I don't think the amount of use will justify the cost.

Thanks,
