January 2, 201313 yr So, do I have to have REXE running or does it just use the textures without REXE running? Textures you load in REX stay loaded until you decide to load new ones. No need to have REX running once you've loaded them if you're not going to use the REX wx engine. You can use the textures in AS, Opus, or even just plain FSX. Scott
January 2, 201313 yr So, do I have to have REXE running or does it just use the textures without REXE running? Gregg Load REXE, load textures based on weather, close REXE and run FS and OPUS. Start REXE and reload textures when you get tired of the sets you have. I tend to load textures atleast once a day to take advantage of the changed and new weather conditions.

January 2, 201313 yr Guys my fps really drop alot :( I have alrd set to low for my cloud detail. :( In As2012 same weather same time same plane highest detailed for clouds at gate somemore,My fps is always 30+ And on opus only approching the runway my fps is droping to 20+And now its on the gate and the with planes surrounded my fps is 30 Can opus do something please? i really like this weather program but i not going to let the fps ruin my landing :( in the sky is ok Kailiang Seah
January 2, 201313 yr Commercial Member As I have previously mentioned OpusFSX has no effect on your frame rates. Make sure you haven't installed 4096 cloud textures which will have an adverse effect on your frame rates, it is preferable to use low resolution non HD textures. If you are using AS with minimal cloud layers then this will obviously be different to using OpusFSX with realistic weather and multiple cloud layers. Sounds like your system is struggling to display the weather together with the scenery on approach but that is down to the performance of your system. Regards Cheryl
January 2, 201313 yr i am using rex-e texture pack anything to recommend on that? I was using the beta at first switch to the offical version now better fps. Will fly more and will tell u :( Am sorry. Kailiang Seah
January 2, 201313 yr Commercial Member No problem, I would just recommend the low res version of the textures and have a look at your scenery options to see if you can improve FPS there if it is a major problem on approach. Regards Cheryl
January 2, 201313 yr yesh frame drops at approach. So sorry :( Hope u dun mind. Now getting like 30 and barely 40 ^^ Kailiang Seah
January 2, 201313 yr Load REXE, load textures based on weather, close REXE and run FS and OPUS. You can certainly do that, but based on several discussions I think you'd find that most people fly with 1 or 2 preferred REX texture sets and leave it at that. Some have even argued that the sets REX chooses when you tell it to load based on current wx are random. If you're flying with Opus, just choose a set or two you think look good with Opus and go with them. Opus will take care of the rest and you won't have to reload textures every time you go fly. Scott

January 5, 201313 yr Exciting to see what happens with Opus and PFPX. Jumping anywhere depends largely on that...
January 5, 201313 yr Commercial Member We have heard back from the PFPX developers this afternoon, their default uses the very latest NOAA METARs and GRIB Forecast data exactly the same as we do in OpusFSX, so we are already fully compatible with the default PFPX flight planner without the need of any OpusFSX option. Our latest beta should also work very well with PFPX even when the Sim Friendly GRIB Wind option is used. We will also be adding some flight planning assistance with the Live Weather Assistant, providing at a minimum a detailed en route weather report for a specified flight plan. Regards Stephen :-)
January 5, 201313 yr Prefect, great news Stephen! Thanks, I may brush the dust off my old 2.50, get it up to par and give it a good run again
January 6, 201313 yr we are already fully compatible with the default PFPX flight planner without the need of any OpusFSX option Just to make sure, does this include historic weather? Thanks! January 6, 201313 yr Commercial Member At present our historic data is restricted to the previous 24 hour cycle, soon to be extended to 36 hours. This is because we access NOAA directly, we find this the most reliable method. If PFPX includes historic data from NOAA then I should imagine there will be no problems. I am sure any minor problems will be ironed out without too much problem, they usually are. Stephen
