January 6, 201313 yr Hi I am very new to the iPad and ios. As in only 2 days of ownership so far. Bearing that in mind are there any good apps that work as an EFB that you would recommend for FSX/FS9 (I use and love both)? Much appreciated. Gavin Barbara Over 10 years here and AVSIM is still my favourite FS site :-)
January 6, 201313 yr Two that I love and would not go without:- Aivlasoft EFB - FSKneeboard + FSCalc That's actually 3, but who's counting ;-) How does the Aivlasoft EFB work? Do you need to install a plugin into FSX and then get the iPad app for it!? Also could it work on Prepar3D?
January 6, 201313 yr Check out the stuff for ipad at www.remoteflight.net MAP HD might work for you. Very inexpensive also. Ray When Pigs Fly . Ray Marshall .
January 6, 201313 yr Via AirDisplay. Not natively yet. The problem is that AirDisplay sucks! It doesn't even work full screen on the iPad that got released a year ago, that's why I try to avoid using the iPad as a second monitor! Wish there just was a native iPad app as an EFB!
January 6, 201313 yr I really don't get what your problem is... Ha, Sorry! Maybe I just need to give it another try to see if it can work! The app "AirTrack" is a perfect example on how fsx to iPad integration should be done!
January 6, 201313 yr Air display doesn't work unless your flying in windowed mode. If you like flying full screen it will not work.
January 6, 201313 yr It's a little pricey but if you want to use a real-world pilot app ForeFlight works with FSX with a $4.99 program. You run FSX Flight -http://www.fsxflight.com/ on your PC and your plane shows up in ForeFlight just like a real plane with GPS. ForeFlight is a free app http://www.foreflight.com and includes 30 days of free data. After that it is about $75 a year for all US charts. A bit pricey, but really just over 6 bucks a month. So it's pretty risk-free to try. Download ForeFlight and see if you like it. Then, if you wanna try it in FSX, buy the $5 program and use it 'til your trial is up. By then you'll know if you wanna spend the $75 for a year of charts. Eddie Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD EddieKABQ
January 6, 201313 yr The problem with FS Kneeboard is that it has only US charts. Simplates X has worldwide plates. I just noticed that there is now a FS Kneeboard 2 that costs $20.. Henri Henri Arsenault
January 7, 201313 yr + 1 with Word Not Allowed. I have not ventured out to AirDisplay yet... Or is it only North America?
January 7, 201313 yr Unfortunately ForeFlight is US and Canada only. :( Eddie Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD EddieKABQ
January 7, 201313 yr Commercial Member FS Kneeboard 2 was built from the ground up to display your international charts as smoothly as the built-in charts it comes with. International charts are not included by default however the app does come with a long list of website bookmarks where you can download charts directly into FS Kneeboard 2 through the built in browser. The reason they aren't included is that FS Kneeboard is not displaying simulated charts garnered from FSX. These are the real thing used by real pilots and they cost money. I got a good deal from the FAA to get this data and use it in the app. For example, when I contacted the UK to license their charts I was quoted a price 50 times higher than the US data. I ran into the problem of charging a huge subscription for the app which I don't believe would have worked. FS Kneeboard 2 works seamlessly to display charts that you download off the Internet in the same tabs you view the built in data in. My own Dropbox has 100s of charts organized by type and by airport. There is a video on YouTube where I explain and demonstrate how to do to this. Noah Bryant
January 7, 201313 yr Must say I had problems with AirDisplay. Could get the desktop wallpaper but not the icons. Uninstalling was not a pleasant event either. Fortunately I tried it on my laptop first before making any attemps on my Sim Machine, so no serious harm done. Have since fallen in love with Remote Flight....beautiful software. Working my way up to having the full collection, started with HD Map. Arnie....if it ain't broke, don't fix it...
January 7, 201313 yr +1 for Aivlasoft EFB However I use Splashtop instead of AirDisplay. _________________________________ -Dan Everette CFI, CFII, MEI 7900X OC @ 4.8GHz | ASRock Fatal1ty X299 Professional | 2 x EVGA GTX 1080 Ti FTW3 (SLI) | 32GB G.Skill DDR4 2800
