January 16, 201313 yr I'd love to see a good Cirrus SR22 with full Avidyne glass cockpit instrumentation..... I note Eaglesoft did one a few years ago but with the standards set by A2A Simulations, Realair, Baytower these days, I don't know if it would hold up.....? Carenado Has a Cirrus SR22 GTSx Turbo coming out very soon, looks good so far!

The outside model is really nice, the Avidyne glass is modelled very well, especially when paired with the Reality XP GNS. It used to work flawlessly with great frame rates on my old machine, but on my new system, I have CTDs when using the flightplan page of the right Avidyne display.
January 16, 201313 yr I will hope Carenado shoots for the standards set by the best devs out there now. That would be fun.
January 16, 201313 yr Here are some screenshots from Carenado for their SR22 GTSx Turbo: ENJOY! Thanks for the HU, that looks awesome! Florian
January 16, 201313 yr Looks gorgeous! Just hope it has solid, sophisticated instrumentation, simulation of the Avidyne systems and displays, and a great FDE. Fingers crossed!
January 16, 201313 yr The team at Carenado have been getting better and better over the past 2 years, their quality has easily increased 2 fold, the SR22 GTSx and TBM850 will be in my hangar
January 17, 201313 yr couldnt said it any better.. Hope I never get to fly with the poster that think pre checks is a chore..!! I don't pre-flight sim planes either, except for controls free & correct. I have no interest in doing so. Just take off, get out there, and see that scenery! As to the real thing, I'd be the one that checked nearly everything. Afterall, I built the things... L.Adamson

Doubtful (it's the Perspective not Avidyne for starters). My bet is that it's the typical G1000 (default) with a twist.. probably just like their C182, but with a few Cirrus items. I'm sure the fde will be excellent though. I'll be buying it anyway. I work in Duluth where they are made. I also used to build them in GFK. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
January 17, 201313 yr Ah okay. I was getting Avidyne from the Cirrus webpage looking up info on my iPhone casually. Cool you got to actually build the real thing! L.Adamson Since I'm not a real pilot, the whole pre-check process for me, at least, is a way of getting into the imaginative frame of mind that helps me convince myself I'm having a realistic flying experience in a home PC sim. Otherwise it just feels like using a mouse or joystick to slew around a rendered scene.
January 17, 201313 yr Ah okay. I was getting Avidyne from the Cirrus webpage looking up info on my iPhone casually. Cool you got to actually build the real thing! Their older variants came with Avidyne packages. There was also a recent Avidyne revision with new avionics. But I believe the new SR22/20's are only coming with Perspective aka Cirrus for G1000 avionics. Working for them was a really nice college job. It paid decently with full benefits. Fortunately I left (to work ATC) before they laid off a lot of people when the economy pooped out. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
January 17, 201313 yr Yeah what a shame, so much loss of creativity and talent..... Well, I hope you're doing okay on ATC. There will always be more traffic!

It's just that I have a magneto timer, cylinder compression checkers, and various other aircraft tools. I just couldn't find where to hook them up....
January 18, 201313 yr Author Looks gorgeous! Just hope it has solid, sophisticated instrumentation, simulation of the Avidyne systems and displays, and a great FDE. Exactly - it looks superb, but jury is out as to whether i get another Carenado for these very reasons! By the way - EXCITING NEWS EVERYBODY! I made my purchase. Thanks to all for your very valuable input. So the addon i got was................... [drumroll]....................... [still drumrolling].......................... THE FLIGHT1/COOLSKY DC-9!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yep, i caved and went for that one, but dont fear, I still intend to satisfy my GA need. I am going to wait until i get bored of the DC-9, then evaluate whether or not there is any updated timescales re. A2A's Cessna/Piper aircraft, and if not, go ahead and purchase the Katana. I know that now brings me OT, but WOW - the DC-9 is amazing. I have had none of the problems others have had, and have just completed a return trip to South Florida from Atlanta in it with it working flawlessly. Talk about immersive simulation! Havent felt like that since the release of the PMDG NGX! January 18, 201313 yr I don't know whether or not it's in Carenado's DNA to do this, but reason seeing the Avidyne cockpit got me excited about the Cirrus is that I thought hmm, a GA aircraft with something heading along the lines of what PMDG does with heavies in terms of instrument and related systems simulation advances, now that could be a killer combo........ picking this plane to model would infer something like that to me, especially with Eaglesoft's precedent a little while ago. But "just another pretty plane with a nicely tweaked FDE" would, even though still appealing, be less of an appeal to me. So I'm hoping Carenado has the ability to be more ambitious than that, so they can pull up alongside A2A Simulations, PMDG, Realair and Baytower.
