My favorite is the Baytower RV-7. Take your Scouts STOL abilities, then mix them with the SF-260's speed, aerobatic, and X-country abilities and you have the RV-7. The RV cruises around 160kts, can operate comfortably out of 800' strips, I got it in and out of Dewey Moore...with full fuel. With that full fuel, I can usually get about 800NM out of it. Nav setup wise it has a single HSI and GNS530 nav/com unit. It would be nice to have an ADF, but in reality the trend is modern GAs are going to GPSs, and most NDB approaches are in the GPS., so you can really cover almost all IFR situations. The good thing is that it goes through the Fligh1 wrapper so it has the 30 day trial deal.

These day's, you won't find many ADFs in RVs anyway. They cost over $3000, which buys a GPS that can do much more. In the US, ADFs are no longer standard equipment on certified aircraft.

Hey Rich,

I have been looking for about the same requirements. I do not want any GPS in the cockpit and only use VOR, DMS, ADF for navigation. Also able to land at small Orbx strips.

I was pretty happy with the Carenado 206 as my buddy has the ampib model so I wanted to learn it so he will let me fly it one day.

But it goes black screen when I use it with Saitek panels....oh well only $14 on sale so dropping it.

I have been looking at the Bronco X (not GA -which i would prefer). Since it appears to have a nice backend management also. The best would be an ac with A2A style engine management. So i am open for suggestions there too.

Lancair is not "glass" in the sense that I think you are thinking, although it does have some.

The SF-260 is a little dated, but it's FDE is still tops, it doesn't have any 'glass', only popup 2d gps...the Legacy was the 260's intended successor.

Of the Carendos, agreed on some of their suspicious FDEs and lack of system depth, but there are some nice ones, especially with Bernt Stolle's FDE. The C185 is a fine bush plane with decent cruise speed, added with Bernt's FDE is a fine flyer. The 337 is quite nice, tho the only thing that I don't like about it, while the night lighting is very pretty, it is a little too bright IMHO without a functioning dimmer switch.

The Sibwings Safir is a nice old clunker, not quite as visually up to par (not bad tho), with the Legacy, RV, BF108..etc but a nice steady flier. I flew an ILS the other day in it and was quite enjoyable.

One I forgot to mention is the Flight1 177 Cardinal. It is a little simplistic but not too bad, good FDE...think of a 172 with a little more 'oomph'

While both RealAir and A2A's 172 have not come out, Legacy is the best choice you have.

Also, I don't think the Legacy has to be "fast" or "very fast". Just leave your gear down and limit the manifold pressure within a lower range,

you have a perfect "slow" IFR platform ^_^

I have almost every single Carenado plane that they have made. I would say that the C210,C182T and the King Air's are their best! I have the Milviz C310R and I honeslty think this is the best GA Twin engine plane out for flight sim! I recently purchase the RealAir Duke and they could have done a better job on the quality in my opinion. The Lancair Legacy from them is probably the best single engine plane for the sim. I mostly fly GA now and not many Airliner flights anymore. These are just my opinions on some of the products i have! :Big Grin:

The Milviz B55, the RealAir (with and without) Turbine Duke and the RealAir Legacy are my absolute favourite GA planes in FSX.

I have the C210 too and i wish it could become one of my favourites. The VC is great with 3D gauges n'all, but the FDE is TERRIBLE! Its almost impossible to land, requiring a sharp nose down attitude which makes flaring hard. CLose the throttle, and the speed and aircraft drop like a brick. Yes i have not flown a C210 in real life, but my extensive flying ot C152/C172 and C182 to seem to suggest that no aircraft would legally behave like this! Flap extension/retraction dynamics also appear way off.

If only Bernt would reivse that FDE too.... (he has previosuly confirmed that he will not)

I know a guy that actually redid the FDE for the 210, it flys much better. I will send it to you via email when I get home from work tomorrow!

real air lancair.. hands down espesially as said in beginning if you want to use it for some IFR

John, any chance of getting that email too.

Hi Rich,

I'd love to hear what you think about it with the new FDE. I was one of those that thought the FDE was horrible. Carenado traded it our for a C337 for me but I might get it again if word continues to grow about it being good. I have heard some good things.

Any chance of posting it up in Avsim files pls? ;)

That would be great!
