January 8, 201313 yr It is home to the 3rd longest runway in Canada. The town of Prince George seems to be complete with much detail. But the airport across the river has only a refueling tank, stranded light beacon tower and a wind sock. Much more exploring to do. 53.8894 N, 122.6769 W Steve
January 8, 201313 yr Wait so if they developed some parts of BC, why didn't they add some runways? Alex Leung Aerospace Engineering Undergraduate Glider & Private Pilot via Royal Canadian Air Cadets
January 8, 201313 yr Hi Gents Your looking at this the wrong way round. It's the same dataset from FSX, recompiled for FLIGHT, with some of the out-of-area airport data / runways removed. HTH ATB Paul ODG Preview
January 8, 201313 yr Adding Prince George now makes 26 landable Canadian airports on my list. What's interesting about this one is how far east it is on the Alaska grid. There may be many more in BC and the YT waiting to be discovered. Canada eh?
January 8, 201313 yr Hi, I can't figure out how to get anywhere near Prince George? Anyone else with this problem? Jim F.
January 8, 201313 yr You can try to find it's Beacon. Or you can find the southeastern-most airport in Alaska, and after takeoff, fly heading 118 for 61 nm. Alex Leung Aerospace Engineering Undergraduate Glider & Private Pilot via Royal Canadian Air Cadets
January 9, 201313 yr Hi, Well this has been eye opening. In my install nothing further East than -127.5 degrees exists. My map is a lot less colorful also. Anyone else with this problem or any suggestions for possible solutions?
January 9, 201313 yr I believe you will find that to be Terrace (CYXT). I tried to fly to Prince George, I tuned in the Houston VOR-DME 114.70 and flew to it. (I ran out of scenery about 40 some nm. from it). I contuned on, then tuned into the Prince George VORTAC 112.30 (081 radial To). It was around 148 nm. DME to it. After awhile I tried to move a little closer to it on the map, to save some time, and it kicked me back to the Houston VOR. Had I cointuned on flying I would have reached the Prince George location because I had Williams Lake VOR (113.60 appx. 329 radial) dialed in and was just starting to get a reading when I tried to move closer. I then want looking for where you might have been, and this is my guess. J. R.
January 9, 201313 yr The lay of the land is very similar with Terrace and Prince George. Airport with multiple runways, across a river from the main town. I bumped into the same walls and could not get even close to Prince George. Paul / basys mentioned something about recompiling FSX locations for use with Flight ??
January 9, 201313 yr Author I stand corrected guys. I just took another closer look and it does seem to be Terrance-Kitmat Airport. Yes, the lay of the land is very similar. Sorry about that. Prince George does seem to be just out of reach. Steve
January 10, 201313 yr Hi, One problem solved! Now about the map color... Anyone else's map as drab as mine? I was thinking of possible differences between the Steam download and the XboxLive (or whatever) one.
January 10, 201313 yr Hi, One problem solved! Now about the map color... Anyone else's map as drab as mine? I was thinking of possible differences between the Steam download and the XboxLive (or whatever) one. Your map looks like my map and that's how it is. The "regions" show as one thing and the outlying area is just a green blob. But if you were to zoom in where your plane was you would start to see icons for the navigational aids for the area. Flight has the world's nav aids, in case anyone want to track a NDB in Africa? I'm glad we cleared up Prince George vs. Terrance-Kitmat. I've been file hunting in Flight and there is nothing there to indicate going as far as Prince George. That data is in column 15, row 12 of the file system and Flight only has files going east up to column 13. Made me do a little head scratching there!
