January 14, 201313 yr I use today the G940 from logitech with my desktop, but the throttles spikes some times and it plasty. Now I want to get the Thrustmaster Hotas Warthog Flightstick... and use it with my PMDG 737NGX and Ifly. I personaly think I will get a better feel for the aircraft because of the controlls are crafted from metal and also very high quality and precision controlls, the only minus Is I have to buy a separate rudder, its a bit unrealistic to use the stick as rudder. Anyone with this stick ? Is there worth the change? I still can get probably 100 euros for my G940 to get the extra rudder. TY MB
January 15, 201313 yr I bought a G940... I sent it back the same day, it was absolutely dire.... I now have the Warthog! It is AWESOME. There really is NO comparison between the 2. The warthog blows the G940 out of the park as they say.. Everything about the Warthog is brilliant... Build quality, layout, smoothness, switches/buttons, the weight of it, everything... I've only had it a week+ and I love it... I gave up on Logitech a few years ago as their fetish for cheap plastics, terrible wireless devices that couldn't withstand any interference from other Logitech devices and crappy service, repeatedly ground me down.. January 15, 201313 yr MB, there are a few threads on the forum re the Warty, but you read them at your own expense! I think Richard is the latest member of the Hog club and probably reflects the same opinion of all Warthog owners  HowardMSI Mag B650 Tomahawk MB, Ryzen7-7800X3D CPU@5ghz, Arctic AIO II 360 cooler, Nvidia RTX4090 GPU, 32gb DDR5@6000Mhz, SSD/2Tb+SSD/500Gb+OS, Corsair 1000W PSU, LG Ultragear 48"4K, MFG Crosswinds, TQ6 Throttle, Fulcrum One YokeMy FlightSim YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/@skyhigh776
January 15, 201313 yr I bought the 940 to see if it made flying the DCS KA-50 easier because of trimming with a FFB stick. I also have a warthog, in fact I got the 940 before the hog hoping it would satisfy my craving for the hog which was retailing for $1100NZD at the time. It didn't, I tried a hog and it's night and day. I had no regrets buying the hog at that outrageous price, double what anyone in the states would pay. The 940 was sold right away.
January 18, 201313 yr I just got the hog the other day and I love it. I am still using my G940 pedals without any issues so you wouldnt have to buy a new set any time soon. January 18, 201313 yr I have a new Warthog hotas too, and it is just as good as people say it is; but I don't think it is appropriate for the NGX. Get yourself a yoke and some saitek throttle quads for that one, friend. I only got the Warthog specifically for the A-10c in DCS, and I am glad to have it because I can use it for all planes that have a stick (remains to be seen if I can use it comfortably left handed for the fsl airbus when that is released) In my opinion though, it doesn't replace or supercede a plain old saitek yoke when flying planes that actually have a yoke. Also, unless flying as FO, I would definitely rather use two inexpensive saitek throttle quads on the right hand side for most ga/commercial aircraft like the NGX, rather than the Warthog throttle quadrant.
January 18, 201313 yr My opinion is different. I have a Yoke, and the Warthog. Needing to swap between stick and yoke plus different throttle configs, messing with FSUIPC (even though I'm a programmer) sometimes was just too much hassle. The more complicated my setup, the less I flew. Now I can just start her up and get going. On top of this, the percentage of a flight that is hand flown being under 5% in the NGX and even less in the MD-11 it's hardly worth messing around. Now I fly with a custom warthog profile and I can move my stick aside when in cruise for some comfortable keyboard use during the boring bits. With my Yoke it was just too bulky. The other thing - hide the Yoke in your sim VC and you won't notice. Airbus uses a stick so there's no reason we can't. The only time I preferred the yoke was when I was flying a real plane with a yoke. Now I only fly aircraft with a stick.

The EULA has a clause in it that actually permits you to pilot those PMDG airplanes, you know.... !!!!
January 18, 201313 yr That's one nice thing about this hobby: there is not the one truth, so many different flight simmers with different interests and opinions! I asked myself exactly the same question: Warthog or G940? The new stick should replace my 5 years old X52 that I've been using for the stick planes. I read through a lot of threads and I ended up ordering a G940. Together with the outstanding FSForce, this stick and its FFB give me such a big gain in immersion that I use it for all planes, incl. the PMDG and iFly 737. I just don't want to touch my Saitek Proflight Yoke at the moment. I wish there was a decent FFB yoke for an affordable price...
January 18, 201313 yr The EULA has a clause in it that actually permits you to pilot those PMDG airplanes, you know.... !!!! The MD-11 and 737 are not exactly designed to cruise without altitude hold turned on. It's not like the default 737 or a light plane where you trim for level flight and fly with the FSX map. If you don't learn to fly with the FMC and MCP/FCP autopilot modes you're missing out on half of the beauty that was developed with these planes. SID/STAR/Approach are the only phases that a normal pilot would be active on the flight controls, i.e. 5% like I said in my earlier post. The other 95% would be either on the ground or AP. For that 5%, I'm not going to mess around switching stuff around my computer with other tasks (or the wife ) breathing down my neck to finsih quickly when I've got a perfectly good joystick that I can use right now.
January 18, 201313 yr Commercial Member Our CEO Robert owns one - he loves it. I've tried it on display at Fry's Electronics and it is a really professional feeling piece of gear - closest thing I've felt to how real aircraft controls really are in terms of the heft and the force required to move them. January 18, 201313 yr but I don't think it is appropriate for the NGX. Get yourself a yoke and some saitek throttle quads for that one, friend. I visited a fellow simmer mate from the forum last week, who only lives a few miles away. He wanted to show me his 3 screen rig, with Buttkicker, Vrinsight mcp, radio stack and of course his Saitek yoke. So here we are I thought to myself, in a situation where I might end up disappointed with my own setup, but no, I have to admit that while I enjoyed the different flying experience, flying with the plastic Saitek yoke was, well, without being unkind, wasn't a patch on flying with my Warty. I'd fly any aircraft, including the NGX, which I fly more than any other, with my Hog before using a plastic yoke any day! And as I've said many times before, unless you're forunate enough to have two dedicated setups, ie, one for yoke based aircraft and the other for stick based aircraft, then at some point you have to make a compromise...although I suspect ALL the members of our Hog club would agree that there is no compromise at all when flying with the Warty  HowardMSI Mag B650 Tomahawk MB, Ryzen7-7800X3D CPU@5ghz, Arctic AIO II 360 cooler, Nvidia RTX4090 GPU, 32gb DDR5@6000Mhz, SSD/2Tb+SSD/500Gb+OS, Corsair 1000W PSU, LG Ultragear 48"4K, MFG Crosswinds, TQ6 Throttle, Fulcrum One YokeMy FlightSim YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/@skyhigh776
