Honeywell MCP - Wrong font size

Featured Replies

Hi guys,I think that need some help here....

After watching lots of pictures on airliners.net of real 737ng cockpit and some pics of 737 ngx I realized that my honeywell mcp has very little fontsize numbers compared to the collins's one....

I really would appreciate some help to solve the problem......

many thanks

They're different MCPs, they have different sized displays, with different sized digits.

Hi scandinavian13 ,first I want to thank u for answer...

I know that they're 2 different MCP but I m also sure that I saw 2 pics of NGX with same size font in both collins and honeywell ,even if they were ,of course,2 different colors !!!!

I've now read your question through 4 times and still dont understand what you are asking. Are you wondering why they are different sizes? Or do you think they should be the same size?

As said above, they are made by different companies and have parts supplied by different companies so they are made differently, although do the same thing.

I m also sure that I saw 2 pics of NGX with same size font in both collins and honeywell

It would be helpful for you to post some links to those pictures, so people can see for themselves what it is you're talking about. Also, please be aware that it's mandatory to sign your posts using your full name on this forum.

Posting image links from sites like Airliners(dot)net is problematic, as in Avsim don't allow it. But if you search there for 737NG flightdeck photos you will find pictures which show the Honeywell MCP. The OP has a point, but the font isn't tiny, it's just a bit smaller than it should be. In the real Honeywell MCP the digits fill the windows more completely. For example in the CRS and HDG windows the three digits should fill the window. Not offset to the right with space for a fourth digit. It's not a major issue, it doesn't affect functionality, but it does make the Honeywell MCP look less lifelike.

To reassure the OP, there's nothing wrong with his copy of the NGX, it's just like everybody else's. Maybe PMDG could add this digit issue to the list for SP2?

I don't think linking airliners.net is problematic. Hotlinking is problematic tho.

Links to copyright material aren't allowed on avsim. I think airliners.net are very hot on policing that. If you download the image and host it yourself you are infringing the copyright of the photographer.

That makes no sense at all. I'd like to see the court that would rule against a website linking to another one! Linking to another website is always completely legal. Now, downloading the image and hosting it ourselves might be illegal (although a case could be made for fair use, since no money was made from the usage). Hotlinking *might* be illegal, but hotlinking can be disabled in their webserver. But just straight up linking to another webpage is completely legal and is not covered by the copyright law in any way shape or form

You may well be right about the legality part of this. According to Chase's pinned post in the 777 forum a link to another website is OK if that website's policies allow it But links to airliners.net pages have certainly been removed before, so I guess they don't allow it.

That's not as much as the problem of dealing with the cost of defending yourself. Sometimes, when groups get aggressive, the best thing to do is just avoid them. Airliners.net isn't anything more than a photographers Elk's Lounge. If you're in, you can submit junk and get it accepted. If you're not, you have to be perfect. Want to join the forums? That'll cost ya...

Good idea. Very, very poor execution.

As far as Avsim's reaction to linking to their site, I feel it's appropriate. They're best avoided.

Would you like to link to our photos from your web page?

If you have a web page (personal or company) and would like to link to certain photos on Airliners.net, you do not have to ask for permission as long as you use the code as described below.

Airline webmasters: To link to photos of your particular airline, please read this.

To include the thumbnail images of photos from Airliners.net on your homepage - please read this!

However, I can provide a link to the page quoted above, as:

All of which is very interesting but diverts attention from the subject, that the Honeywell MCP digits are rather too small.

You can link to Airliners.net all day long if you want. It's when you bring the image off their site to a third party site that will get you a nasty gram from them.

Not rivalry from us. It's their site that doesn't want anyone hosting their pictures.
