There have been several threads about the YSSY project, but I had not seen the previews, which display incredible detail!

It helps that the real control tower's cylindrical pods and spiral staircase enclosure are not perfectly round—no one can criticize FlyTampa for blocky modelling!

Maybe not everyone is excited about that airport? Personally I am not and will probably not get it since I never fly that area. I own the whole ORBX AU package, including all the major and some smaller hubs that go along with it and over the past 3 years have only flown in Australia a handful of times. For some reason as nice at it looks in the ORBX mode, that part of the world just doesn't draw me in and I spend the majority of my sim time doing flights in the US, South America, Europe and northern Africa. For some reason I just don't have any thing drawing me into flying in Asia or Oceania.

There have been some posts pointing it out here at Avsim and of course on the FT forum where people were excited about it though. Just not a priority airport for me.

If the new ORBX world package will make Asia / Pacific more close to reality then I would probably be interested. Im always interested to check out new geography but when only the airport is a realistic depiction .... well, its a long way to fly through dull and poorly represented landscape.

Issue with YSSY is it performs poorly before you even touch the airport. In order to get a YSSY premium airport to perform a lot of work will need to be done on the city itself. Better models in the city centre, harbour bridge, stadiums, harbour... etc...

That was kind of the same situation I was in when deciding whether or not to buy FlyTampa's Dubai and Kai Tak. Dubai is so far from any other sceneries or airports that I own and the landscape that you need to fly over to get to it is not only boring but that that great looking either. I still bought Dubai and its nice but I rarely fly there at all due to the reasons I mentioned. Still have yet to get Kai Tak since its equally as far from any other areas I visit in the sim, but it sure does look nice once you get there. I honestly have a hard time getting myself to buy sceneries or airports that I know deep down wont get much use. I did the same thing with ORBX AU and PNW. I put both of those off for years even though they got great reviews. Finally they had a holiday sale and I picked up AU and PNW, plus about 10 airports all for around $300 or so. Installed all of it, visited each airport and flew around a bit in both regions and that was that. Haven't been to either region in over a year and basically spent all that money for maybe 15 hours of looking around to see how it looked on my computer.

Good to finally get some Flytampa quality stuff for Australia, I will probably start flying a lot between Honolulu and Sydney when this comes out...

Then some pacific simulations airports to cover some of the islands around there and I have everything set up for perfect adventures in that region.

But don't we all do that LOL

There are a few airports I bought (large hubs) and Have barely done 2 flights out of them!!! LOL

But they looked good and they look good on my PC with all the Ai I have installed so got them anyway LOL

I'm all for Sydney, but that's probably because Im a local and do alot of flying (online) out of that field.

For me It will just make my Pacific Crossings to my payware airports in Hawaii and the US that more complete once I add AES to it....

But each to their own I guess, some are thrilled while others feel that more European or Nth American airports should be done first!!!

I agree about Dubai. While FlyTampa Hong Kong is my most impressive scenery, I fly around FlyTampa Vienna more frequently, due to the availability of other payware European airports.

However, Hong Kong is still located quite conveniently, with short-haul flight opportunities to Shanghai, Taipei, etc.
