Just curious but are you saying that FSX would not render the same clarity?

No, it just seems that FS9 can look nearly as good as FSX, but it seems to run a lot smoother and to be more stable.

That top shot is one of the most impressive screen captures I have EVER seen. I would love to have that one in high resolution 1920x1200 size because that would be my next desktop wallpaper. GREAT work Ed.

I would wade through that nasty water to get those water textures in fs9. Those are really awesome shots.
