How to update AIRAC data.

Featured Replies

Hey fellow pilots,

I got the Navigraph 1303 AIRAC update yesterday and went to install it and it didn't update what I wanted except for FSC. I ran the installers for FSC, QW757 and the wilco Feelthere EMBRAER jets. As far as I can tell FSC was the only program that updated (it was at AIRAC 1211). All the other aircraft still say the AIRAC they had, not the one I tried to install.

I don't know if it is because I chose the wrong folder, it said to choose the root folder of every aircraft which I did.

Also, is there a way to update FSX's AIRAC cycle? I have noticed its missing alot of waypoints and alot of the ILS freq. are wrong.

Remy Mermelstein
777-300 FS Pilot

Did you make sure to run each of the installers "As Administrator" when you launched them?

The "AIRAC cycle" of the sim is contained in the scenery files. There's no missing waypoints or wrong ILS frequencies, it's just that waypoints, frequencies, and airports changed over the years and will be different in the current cycle. The planner uses the new AIRAC cycle, the plane uses the new AIRAC cycle, the sim waypoints and airports are the old cycle. There will be airports in the sim that don't exist in the new cycle, and airports in the new cycle that don't appear in the sim. When you make a route to an arbitrary airport make sure the airport exists in the sim, if not get scenery for it. If the airport is still there today as in the sim, it's possible they moved the runway at some time, you could be landing in a car park.

Fun fact:

There are FAA prefroutes to airports that no longer exist.

What does this have to do with PMDG anyway?

The PMDGs use AIRAC data from Navigraph, seems OK that the OP is asking advice about it.

You need to point the installer to the FSX root directory not the aircrafts directory.

I did do that for FSX. for QWsim and my payware aircraft it said to go to the root folder of that aircraft.

No it really didn't

The installer should find your FSX install automatically, if it does not then point it at the FSX root folder.

Every Navigraph update I have applied goes to the FSX root, the only exeption for me was the Eaglesoft CX which offers no choice as it is hard coded to send it to \AppData\Roaming\Navdata\

To update the FSX database, you could try this ...

Regards,

Sim.

I went to this website and downloaded all the necessary files, hopefully it will work! thanks!
