April 8, 201313 yr 2. The 757 would be technically possible, but again, Level D promises news this year in relation to new projects, which means their long-awaited 757 could be coming about. Whoa! Didn't know that. Then again I don't know if I'm that excited anymore since they're just planning on making an announcement. The announcement could be that they're shutting their doors and no plans to finish the 757. Just have to wait and see I guess; like we have been for the past 5 years!!!!! Dylan Charles "The aircraft G-limits are only there in case there is another flight by that particular airplane. If subsequent flights do not appear likely, there are no G-limits."
April 8, 201313 yr If I'm correct it think the 757 was mentioned at some point as a project they would not commence due to low demand. ... also because Level-D Simulations is supposedly working on a 757 and PMDG have no intention of getting overly aggressive in this market (nor do they need to) when they can have a cordial relationship with fellow developers instead. April 8, 201313 yr As an owner of both PMDG and LDS jets I will say this. The LDS 763 was great IN IT"S DAY, but is graphically hideous by today's standards and no longer suspends my disbelief; I no longer fly it. I doubt it sells any longer so IMHO PMDG should consider the 764, plenty of info on it. On the LDS 757, sorry, but that is vapor ware IMHO. No slight against LDS but got to call it the way it is, sorry to say in the PMDG forum but that is on topic. Really looking forward to the PMDG T7, a must-purchase for me.
April 8, 201313 yr Commercial Member The problem is that while for PMDG development is a full-time job, the LDS guys are WAY more part time, and have to work on projects as they can, not all day every day. You might want to check your facts there... Kyle Rodgers
April 8, 201313 yr The LDS767 is basically the older PIC767 for FS2000/2002. We're looking at a 12+ year old aircraft that was updated for FS9/FSX 9 years ago. I have many happy hours in it flying on Vatsim. I retired it on my latest PC build and havn't looked back. If a big update (payware) bought it up to PMDG MD11 standard (nevermind NGX standard) Then I would probably reactivate 767's into my FSX fleet, but as it currently stands, the LDS767 is retired for me. I'd buy a PMDG MD11 standard 767 regardless of who made it. an NGX (or 777) standard FSX 767 would be in my PC the day it was released and making Sydney-Melbourne Melbourne-Perth Sydney-Auckland and trans atlantic flights on Vatsim the very next week. Alas I don't see it happening, and am quite happy with a fleet that covers all of PMDG's FSX products and a few other high quality addons including GA aircraft with the RealityXP GNS series. There's a nice set of confirmed products on the way including 777's, 747-400's, and some other developers Airbus and Bombadier aircraft that look to be promising and of the quality that would convince me to purchase (basically the benchmark is around the PMDG MD11 quality with the NGX being 'bonus awesome'.) I want it to fly right and not look bad, I want the MCP to work easy and quickly in the VC with the mousewheel able to scroll from 5000ft to 35000ft within 1 minute or less and not get stuck going from 6700ft to 8700ft in 1/10th of a rotation of the mousewheel with nothing in between. So far only the PMDG products I have used seem to be able to handle this, and only the MD11 JS41 and NGX at that. Some Realair products have implimented this well also. In all, with 777 and 744 we have a good year or 2 of waiting anyway ... and then some variants like 748, 77W, 772, 737BBJ.... by then news of a PMDG 787 might be the next big wait  Trent Hopkinson, 2015 Crewmember of www.mangrove.com.au WorldFlight sim Youtube channel www.youtube.com/user/musicalaviator

Graphically it's very dated, but the simulation hasn't got any less deep. Obviously though retiring it is your choice, I take a different view. I like to fly a range of aircraft, my VA operates the 767, so I choose to fly it sometimes too. Not flying it because the graphics look old is a bit like not watching Casablanca or Citizen Kane because they are in black and white with mono sound. There aren't many few top quality in depth simulations around. Too few to start discarding them IMO.
April 8, 201313 yr I would alter the question to "can anyone name ANY good hardcore 767 sim to fly?" The answer currently is no. This is way off topic but it may be 12 years old but can you name a better 767 sim to fly
April 8, 201313 yr a bit like not watching Casablanca or Citizen Kane because they are in black and white with mono sound. LIke you, I too enjoy the Level-D offering. Top logical counter. Rick Almeida
April 8, 201313 yr This is way off topic but it may be 12 years old but can you name a better 767 sim to fly? No. There isn't any better 767-300 aircraft simulated for any Flight Simulator (FSX, FS9, Xplane or anything else). However I have retired it from my fleet (at 10,000 exact clock minutes on Vataware). Real airlines retire aircraft from their fleet all the time for various reasons, including age. While the real world has retired all their MD11's (KLM, World and a few Freight airlines aside) due to age, I have actually moved the 767 on. A combination of 737NGX and PMDG MD11 and PMDG 747 has managed to cover the 'hole' so far, and the 777 will be an even more appropriate replacement for the Trans Atlantic flights. If you are a big 767 fan, then you are stuck using some 2D popups for the FMS or actually sitting in the 2D cockpit. If you make your own fixed-base home simulator then there's no disadvantage there, but for my personal use, I find the 767 lacking in some of the aspects I want in my flight simulation (mostly graphics and use of the 3d cockpit.) So if I was the CEO of my own Virtual Airline (I am in a sense, in that I don't fly for VA's only for myself on Vatsim) the I would have made the announcement that the 767 was being retired and replaced with the 737 and MD11 and 747, with the 747 due to be retired when replaced with the 777 and the MD11 relegated to freight only by the end of 2014 once KLM retires theirs. Fleet rationalization. In this case replacing an older aircraft which has been deemed to be less efficient or suitable to the role it is being tasked for than other available products. In this case my FSX fleet started off with the LD767 and very little else. The PMDG 737NG wasn't compatible, the PMDG 747 was but was too big for domestic flights, and smaller aircraft like the E190 was too small and not as good a quality as the LDS767. Yes that's right, the LDS767 is better than some (far younger) FSX payware products out there in my opinion. Then the NGX was released and the 767 was no longer needed on the Domestic routes I fly. It was limited in some of the airports I could visit in it, and wasn't of the same quality of the NGX, so it got put on longhaul and international routes whereby it was directly competing with MD11 and 747. The comparison was unfavourable for the 767 which I assessed and in a rationalization of my personal fleet, got retired. Now I'm running: 747 MD11 NGX MD80 JS41 BE60 LEG2 Occasionally the C172 When I have a 777 in my fleet the 747 use will be further reduced, but may pick up again with 747v2 A320's and Q400's entering the fleet may cause a reduction of use of MD80's and JS41's but that's to be determined later. April 9, 201313 yr One of the joys of virtual flying is that you don't have to be rational about it. I prefer to keep "my fleet" irrational so I can fly what I want. As long as I have spare disk space the LDS 767 will be installed, ready and waiting.
April 10, 201313 yr Rationalisation is a dirty word in my FSX hanger. Over the past 18 months I've purchased Aerosoft: DHC-6, A320 AXE Carenado: PA46T, C90, B200 Captainsim: 707, 727, 737, 757, 777 Coolsky: DC-9 Feelthere: ERJv2, Ejets, 737v1 & 2 Flight1: ATR72, C441 Flightsimlabs: Concorde Leonardo: MD-80 Level D: 767 Majestic: Q300 PMDG: J41, 737-6/7/8/9 NGX, MD-11, 744 Realair: Lancair Legacy, Turbo Duke Qualitywings: 757 Of those only the F1 Cessna 441 and Captainsim 757 & 777 have been "retired". I go through different flying moods, certain aircraft get more air time than others but the rest are all ready to go. Jason Carruthers
