April 24, 201313 yr Hey everyone i ran a search and came up with very little i'm sure its been beat to death can you guys recommend a good defrag for fsx on a mechanical hdd thanks JHo Jaime Horton
April 24, 201313 yr Hello, I use Ultimate drefrag since ...and I like it disktrix.com Hight Perf on the external, Archives on the internal Emile EBBR Z590 Aorus Elite, i9-11900K 3.5Ghz Nvidia RTX 5070, 32 GB Mem, SSD 3 Tera , 3 monitors Win11 Pro X64 LM P3D V6.1 Little Nav Map Hifisim Nvidia 591.44
April 24, 201313 yr Both the Disk Defragmenter, and Disk re-Aligner functions in System Mechanic 10, especially the former when Consolidate Free Space is checked.
April 24, 201313 yr Using UltDefrag, too, not the latest version, though. I haven't experienced any problems myself, but heard of users occasionally, who indicated some file corruptions, blamed at UltDefrag. Again, no problems of that kind on my side. To me it's quick, efficient and configurable to my needs. What happened to AVSIM
April 24, 201313 yr Mydefrag is free and I've been using it for years. It also has an optimize option. IAN Ryzen 5800X3D, Nvidia RTX5080 - 32 Gig DDR4 RAM, 1TB & 2 TB NVME drives - Windows 11 64 bit MSFS 2024 Premium Deluxe Edition Resolution 2560 x 1440 (32 inch curved monitor)
April 25, 201313 yr im using default defrag that comes with Windows.. its enough for me and theres also one that getting very good reviews, from.. creators of CCleaner -> "Defraggler" its freeware i think Jaroslav Kolesnikov
April 25, 201313 yr UltimateDefrag has a feature that allows you to arrange the files on your partition in alphabetic order, which reduces the initial loading time. However, when actually flying, defragging your HDD or even moving to an SSD makes very little difference. I find the built-in disk defragmenter scheduled to run automatically once a month to be enough. -
April 25, 201313 yr UltDefrag 1) defrags (amazing!) - just like the Windows default defrag does 2) consolidates - places files close to one another which are used in conjunction with each other 3) optimizes file placement in general - seldom used archive files are placed at the slower inner tracks; frequently used 'high performance' files at the quicker outer tracks Frankly speaking, I can' tell how much #2 and #3 improve the situation over #1 stand-alone. What happened to AVSIM
April 25, 201313 yr I've also been using Defraggler from the creators of CCleaner, for a few years now. Does what it's advertised and fairly simple UI. Also, free.
