Have you ever?

As the topic say have you ever just not been able to decide on a piece of software to buy for fsx

I've been looking at ultimate traffic 2 and mytraffic 5.4 for days now and just can't decide which to get.I've read the various pro's and con of each ,thought of what I want out of it and still can't decide

Has this ever happened to you and what swayed you on the eventual winner.

I chose my traffic because I liked the large variety of ai traffic types, including military. Ultimate traffic was good, but the bug where the traffic is reset every time you access an in game menu was too much so I switched. Ultimate traffic updates were also long and tedious to do.

Been there, too. But that's one of the great things about Avsim, just ask your question, and you'll get good advice, and reasons why to buy/not to buy an addon.

In this particular situation, I'd suggest to try UT2, since Flight1 has the famous "30 day money back" policy, so you can in fact try it and return it incase you don't like it. I myself use MyTraffic - as you can read in various other threads about traffic addons B) -  and I'm pretty satisfied, but the models are not that beautiful. However, I don't mind, because it offers a great number of different aircraft, which you could otherwise only (if ever) achieve by installing tons of WOAI, MAIW etc packages.

I've used both. MyTraffic was too high overhead on startup for me, the 737 repaints folder added a couple of minutes to FSX's startup time.

MyTraffic's out of the box repaints are more diverse than UT2's out of the box repaints, but I have a fair amount of freeware AI repaints that I've replaced UT2's with so that the quality is more consistant, basically if I run into a Daedalus paint anywhere, I make a note to replace that airline's models with one of the variety of freeware (AIG's or FIAB normally, but there's some others in there too: AIM for the ERJs for example, because UT2's ERJs look plain awful).

I prefer the injected AI approach of UT2, as it feels more 'real' than the preset BGLs of MTX, technically I don't think it should make a difference, but it seems as if the UT2 flightplans are updated due to delays, whereas MTX just 'pushes on' and seems to be happy to let huge queues on taxiways form.

The lack of military traffic in UT2 is annoying though, but between things like MAIW and the russian AI makers out there, you can get some good 'fill in' stuff. I don't think the "promised" UT2 military module will ever appear at this point, since the developers aren't working on UT anymore.

UT2 also uses actual flight plans so their AI don't simply fly direct from departure to arrival.  The downside to UT2, as previously stated, are the inconsistent quality of the models and paint jobs, lack of military and freight carriers.  You can add these to UT2, but it would have been nice if the developer had made such things a part of the package.  Sadly, it looks like UT2 has been abandoned by its developer, so the outlook for improvements and further development does not look good.

My computer: ABS Gladiator Gaming PC featuring an Intel 10700F CPU, EVGA CLC-240 AIO cooler (dead fans replaced with Noctua fans), Asus Tuf Gaming B460M Plus motherboard, 16GB DDR4-3000 RAM, 1 TB NVMe SSD, EVGA RTX3070 FTW3 video card, dead EVGA 750 watt power supply replaced with Antec 900 watt PSU.

Yes. That's why I use both.

You can exclude UT2 traffic from MTX traffic so combined you get the best from both worlds. The real reason why I still use UT2 is because I can have my A2A 3d Shockwave lights on all UT2 models (looks stunning during nights) but I can't have any Shockwave lights on MTX models. MTX also features military and cargo traffic.

guess who the winner was in that case?!?

Wilco, of course! :P

Wilco, of course! :P

Wilco A380 ... thrust reversion on ALL four(!) enginges, L/G indications in 2D differing from those in the VC, external engine sound played IN the cockpit, MCDU exactly the same as in the Airbus series ...

... sometimes it doesn't take much to be a winner, lol!

Once I was (...) between the CS B732 and the BBS B732. Guess who won on that occasion?

What happened to AVSIM

I have myTraffic 5.4  and im satisfied in terms of FPS and compatibility of airliners versus airport location + plane textures are ok and in the night logos on tail have lights and the software  was updated recently by the author. I added to this the flight one audio environment to give the traffic a realistic sound on start up/ taxi/take off....

The stated number of daily flights. Couldn't figure that out for UT2, but did a comparison between TrafficX and MT which was in favour of MT.

I'm not sure that I'd pick just because one has 'more flights', my local airport (EGNM) only has about 10 flights/day in reality, MTX always kept the airport crammed with planes at all times, so much so that fighting for a take-off spot was a real problem, UT2 has a much more realistic (although not 100% realistic) traffic pattern for the airport.

I can understand that some people want the challenge of a busy airport, but for that I can just choose to fly into a busy airport, be it EGLL, EDDF, KATL, LFPG, or whatever.

Could someone please tell me how easy is it to add ai timetables to ut2. At the moment i'm swaying towards ut2 over mytraffic because the models on my traffic in my opinion are'nt great the 737 looks really bad,I'm not bothered about military stuff but i've read that ut2 is more orientated to America and less so to europe .

So how dificult would it be to add european timetables if required and cargo flights? Also has someone come up with a way to have a/c on the gates at night
