Aerosoft ATR-500 McPhat, Is it a buy?

Featured Replies

This is a beautiful bird from the outside. Probably the most beautiful for X-plane. The cockpit is not perfect (it suffers a lot from compression), especially if you compare it to FlyJSim's 727 for example. I think it flies well, but be aware that systems are very light ! The price is correct for what it has to offer.

I think I read over at the .org that HD Cockpit Textures have to be enabled in Planemaker, plane is sold with normal textures until you choose HD.

these videos look good and I hear my credit card yelling: "buy it!"

A little light on the systems, but it's quite nice. If you don't already have the dash 8 I would recommend getting that instead.

The video is nice but hardley shows any of the cockpit and no audio. I was going to purchase it just to show my support for the Xplane as a whole but can't bring myself to pull the trigger knowing that I rarely leave the virtual cockpit of the aircraft I'm flying and with light systems modeling my intrest and enjoyment would be too shortlived.

I was thinking of buying this as well but I am concerned about the detail of the textures in the cockpit which doesn't look as good as some other aircraft (e.g. Airbus Neo) Is it true you have to use plane-maker to enable HD textures? Can you post some screenshots of the cockpit with HD textures (if they can be enabled)? How does the quality of the cockpit compare to the textures used in the Airbus Neo by JarDesign?

Cheers,

Steve

I use "extreme textures" on my pc and all my payware look good, I did enable HI-RES in Planemaker but I didn't notice any change with my eyes....maybe it's because i'm on "EXTREME SETTINGS". Will post a VC PIC later. A patch is being released this month to solve some issues/bugs.

Pics were taken at Aerosoft EHAM with "Extreme Textures" and HDR OFF

And the dash and ufmc is quite a nice combo.

Thanks for posting them so quickly! They look great. I will also be picking this bird up then soon!! Aer Lingus just received their first ATR-600 so I will be looking to load up the HD livery of my home country's most famous airline (apart from Ryanair that is)!

Also, can anyone who owns bought, weight in on which is better the Dash or the ATR and why? I don't know which to get first :)

I would say dash, hands down.

I wonder what happened with the promised patch for the ATR...

Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2

Has this ATR been upgraded for 64bit yet?
