Can This BE TRUE, XPLANE 10.30 Soon!

The June Release of the 757 will require 10.30 so I guess we will get a Summer Gift from Austin    :yahoo:

"Okay guys, here's the first post showing off some of the 757 stuff that goes beyond textures: http://forums.x-plan...showtopic=67540

To answer a few questions:

-There is no possibility for an X-Plane 9 version. The 757 will require X-Plane 10.30, because we need the 64bit luaJIT infrastructure for all operating systems in X-Plane. Otherwise you'd be running into out-of-memory CTDs faster than you can say "757"

-From the 777 we learned that you are used to a different texturing standard now, because of the CRJ. That's why we hired http://www.khamsin.org/

creator of the Trojan an Chipmunk to texture our 3d cockpit.

-From the 777 we also learned that you need finer-grained system failures that are less catastrophic for your overall flight, whilst still keeping it interesting to manage. That's why we created a new failure system that can currently trigger 148 separate fault conditions.

-The 757 features a much better fuel-predicting flight management system that keeps tracking your fuel consumption in strong wind conditions much better than in the 777. I will bring this system in the 777 too with the next update.

-Lastly, the question about AirTrack or XHSI is not different from the 777. X-Plane and it's third party navigation add-ons only know one type of waypoint. The 757 and 777 FMS know 23. So when the decision comes to whether we want to dumb-down our FMCs to 1/23rd of their actual capabilities the answer is clearly NO. The 757 will not use X-Plane default navigation. "

Sounds like this plane will have a very big memory foot print, could this possibly be the first 64-Bit only plane for X-Plane?

I'm excited about 10.30, we can move on from the laborious transition to 64 bit. I hope they can include changes to fix to the blurry scenery at high altitude. I can't fly above FL180, it completely kills the immersion you feel at low altitude.

I'm really digging the recent release candidate, really great performance!

That VC looks extremely good. Can't wait to hear more about it. Love the quality add ons that are being made available.

I agree. It really is impressive. I went back to FSX for a while there a couple of months ago but since 10.20 has been released, I am now flying only X-plane. I'm sure I will use FSX again from time to time as I have so many add-ons but Xplane can, at times, be truly stunning and also much more flexible in terms of options and situations that you can set up. It is the future of simming in my opinion (based on what's currently available).

I just hope they release some better regionalization (textures, autogen, landmarks, etc.) and also fix the clouds.

Great to hear these developers working together and learning from each other to bring incredible detail to X-Plane 10

Not to be a wet blanket here, but have we heard anything from Laminar Research about 10.30 yet? Aside from Phillip intimating that it will contain the 64-bit LUA JIT work, timelines and content seem to be otherwise unannounced.

Looks like a well done 757... a good 757 makes a good candidate to transition to a 767, as they share cockpits and type ratings. Reminiscent of the PMDG 737NGX in its detail.

LR needs time!

I'm sure that everything that has been mention here will be fixed eventually.
