May 15, 201313 yr Commercial Member You're right!...about that checkbox...it should use system time. I've always got it checked...always had it checked...but it has *never* worked for me unless I load one of the blasted default ones. **Shrugs.** I always just chalked it up to another bug. Maybe I wasn't holding my mouth right when I turned it on. Hmm. I'll re-check next time I've got my fliht system on. Maybe I'm deluding myself. I know the TIME is always right, but that's being set automatically for me either by FSRealTime or the Aivlasoft EFB Data Provider. Maybe the date and season are wrong though. I probably wouldn't notice as i don't have much, if any, season-related scenery and the real weather is controlled by AS2012. I' should notice if I was flying near dawn or dusk I guess and it got light or dark earlier or later than outside! ;-) If that option really doesn't work then mybe I should add it to FSUIPC. It wouldn't be too hard for it to reset the date/time/season as soon as it sees a new flight loading. Regards Pete Win10: 22H2 19045.2728 CPU: 9900KS at 5.5GHz Memory: 32Gb at 3800 MHz. May 15, 201313 yr Here is a tip ... navigate to your saved flights (documents and settings\username\My Documents\Flight Simulator X Files) In there are three files per saved flight; Microsoft Flight Simulator Application file FSSAVE file WX file Copy as a shortcut a flight's 'Microsoft Flight Simulator Application' file ... move it to your desktop. Double click the new shortcut from your desktop ... hey presto FSX starts directly to the flight you require. You can make as many as you want and even put them in to folders if you wish. Enjoy Rich

Well, you had me thinking. I'm in the middle of a flight at the moment but after it I'm going to unset it (save) and reset it (save) to see if maybe that'll help. It's never worked and I just gave up on it. Gregg Seipp "A good landing is when you can walk away from the airplane. A great landing is when you can reuse it." i9 64GB RAM, GTX-5090
May 16, 201313 yr Author Well, if the "Use System Time" is supposed to override the time in the flight then it doesn't on mine. I unchecked it and checked it, verified this in my fsx.cfg... [sIM] SYSCLOCK=1 Started a flight and either it was full daylight in Los Angeles (3AM). Deleted the DateTimeSeason section from the config and restarted and it's night. May 16, 201313 yr Commercial Member Well, if the "Use System Time" is supposed to override the time in the flight then it doesn't on mine. I must has misled myself, then, by always flying daytime in Europe and with the time of day auto-set for me. Maybe I'll add a working "use system time" option to FSUIPC4. May 16, 201313 yr Gregg, Thank you for the tip, you've save me loads of time because of it. Regards; Fritz
May 16, 201313 yr Commercial Member Maybe I'll add a working "use system time" option to FSUIPC4. Okay, done in FSUIPC 4.901, now available in my Support Forum. It was easy. Just check "use system time for flights" in the Miscellaneous tab in FSUIPC options. Then all loaded flights will have the current date, time and season set. In other words it does what the FSX option should do and doesn't. Regards Pete Win10: 22H2 19045.2728 CPU: 9900KS at 5.5GHz Memory: 32Gb at 3800 MHz. May 16, 201313 yr Author Pete, is it the latest download? Had a thought. I wonder if there's a way to make it use GMT and know the local time at the airport. Hmmm. May 16, 201313 yr Commercial Member Pete, is it the latest download? 4.901 in the Download Links subforum. Had a thought. I wonder if there's a way to make it use GMT and know the local time at the airport. Hmmm. It sets FS's UTC from the Windows known UTC. So it's the time now, wherever you are. FS takes care of the local time ofset in any case. Pete Win10: 22H2 19045.2728 CPU: 9900KS at 5.5GHz Memory: 32Gb at 3800 MHz. May 16, 201313 yr I can't confirm right now but : If I load a saved flight as the default flight FSX opens the flight using current time. If I load a saved flight after FSX is started up, it uses the time in the saved flight.
May 16, 201313 yr Commercial Member I think that's a useful feature for FSUIPC, but I've got a suggestion: Would it be possible to split the date and the time into two different choices? I.E. I almost always sim at night, but rarely do I fly at night inside FSX. So it'd be great to be able to have FSX use the system date, but not the time. Conversely, there are times where I don't mind flying at the current time, but not in the current season (especially after enduring month number six of snow...). Jim Stewart Milviz Person.

If I load a saved flight after FSX is started up, it uses the time in the saved flight. Confirmed. I can save any flight whether night or day as the default, and it will load with system time if I have the "Use System Time" box checked, but if I uncheck the option, close FSX then reopen it, the time on the free-flight page is from the saved flight. It has always been this way that I know of, and I do not believe that behavior changed from FS9. But as mentioned above, if you "Load" a flight from the menu then you will be using the saved flight time and not system time no matter the option setting. Pete, does your new option override that behavior, i.e. does it use system time no matter how you load? EDIT: Reread your post and it reads like it does force real time. Gonna download tonight. Thanks for your work!
May 16, 201313 yr Author Pete, does your new option override that behavior, i.e. does it use system time no matter how you load? Yep, tested. Works like a charm! Gregg Seipp "A good landing is when you can walk away from the airplane. A great landing is when you can reuse it." i9 64GB RAM, GTX-5090
