That's why the hardware rudder isn't mandatory (anymore). Mouse yoke comes in handy if someone wants to have separate rudder control without investing into additional hardware.

Thrust control by the default keys, however, is touch'n'go:

- I got it working on one occasion; it would fail on further occasions

- Missing "hardware thrust control" isn't supported by Aerosoft.

Just a word of caution ...

No problem here to use F1,F2,F3 (or mouswheel) for thrust-setting!

With autothrust and using the AP you don't need them much on the Airbus:

2-3 touches F3 for setting flex  thrust on take-off

1 touch F2 for climb thrust at thrust reduction

1 touch F1 at RETARD before landing

F2/F1 for Reverse setting/Resetting eventually

1 touch F3 for initiating taxiing

(For braking you can use the '.')

That's all!   Worked always here.

I changed my mind, and purchased the CoolSky DC9 instead (plus the TSS JT8D sound pack).

A very good decision (Not to take anything away from the AAX). If you're new to that sort of flying I highly recommend frooglesim's three part YouTube tutorial.

Regarding the sound set both the stock and TSS sets are very good if you already have both I recommend trying both and see what you prefer.

Having said that I also own the Aerosoft Airbus X A320/A321. After SP1.1 it also is a good plane for a completely different type of flying.

Enjoy your Diesel 9

I tested the DC9 with the default sound set, but I decided to purchase the TSS version because YouTube videos seemed to indicate that it "packed more of a punch", and that seems to be the case.

Love 'em both!

(Although I'd love the DC-9 a whole lot more if it had a retro-fit FMS in it, but that's a whole different discussion!)

BTW, Dave, thanks for the "flaps up"!

You're welcome

I have uploaded the AXE Voice Pack to AVSIM File Library, so it's just awaiting approval here, then I may drop a separate thread about it.

I've just installed the latest Hotfix, and where yesterday I was able to use my MSFF2 joystick to advance/retard the throttle on this plane, now all of a sudden I cannot do so anymore. I found out the only way I could increase the throttle was to keep F4 pressed all the time. Not much fun having to do that. Maybe I have done something wrong, but if anyone can point me in the right solution, it'd be very much appreciated.

I have tested the joystick throttle with other aircraft and it works fine as it has done for years now. It's just with this particular plane I cannot get it to work correctly now, post-Hotfix.

Rick, there's some confusion currently concerning the hotfix installation instructions. Correct is:

1. full version 1.10

2. hotfix 015

3. hotfix 016

The correct order is important and so is to forget about the old hotfix 014 (some confusion on that, too).

I'd suggest to reinstall like m.a. and to run the AAX Configurator after that to confirm that the throttle configuration matches your joystick setup (either single throttle or dual throttle).

Hi Oliver. Once more, you come to the rescue of us hapless simmers. Thank you.

Your reply explains a few things. I seem to have missed Hotfix 015 along the way and plumped straight for the Hotfix016. Maybe that was was what screwed my throttle up.

Forgive me for asking, but what exactly is 'reinstall like m.a.' and where do I find that AAX Configurator? Thanks.

Just done a complete re-install, no Hotfixes as yet. I think I'll steer clear for the moment.

No worries, mate. Aerosoft pays me per post (AVSIM: just kidding!!!)

Reinstall in the order I mentioned: v1.10 - hf015 - hf016.

Configurator can be reached via the Windows start menu: Start - all programs - Aerosoft - AS Airbus Extended

Or browse to (your FS X root folder)\aerosoft\Airbus X Extended
