May 29, 201313 yr Will be fun to see how it compares to the Carenado one. Carenado's TBM 850 is still kind of unusable even after SP1 - the first flaw becomes apparent the moment you hit the starter switch and find the Ng gauge shows 0% untill you add the fuel... If you try to climb over FL260, you'll find your plane came with the wrong engine since power starts dropping off, resulting in nowhere near the advertised cruising speed at high altitudes. It sure looks pretty, though. -
May 29, 201313 yr I'd say that the Carenado version is actually quite good (I'd say the best plane they've released in quite some time). Carenado's TBM 850 is still kind of unusable even after SP1. The fact that both of these posts are talking about the same aircraft just shows how we can all have very differing views of the same product! .....
May 29, 201313 yr I think calling it 'unusable' is quite extreme. If this is unusable, there must only be a few aircraft if any that you would call usable. No flight sim addon has completely circumvented MSFS's short comings. Some come closer to others but it's near impossible when you consider all the compromised that have to be made. Some of the best modeled GA aircraft still require you to have the mixture pulled half way back at only a few thousand feet. Even the NGX was reported by PMDG to fly with in a percentage of published figures in all flight envelopes given that you just can't make it perfect. I give Carenado credit where credit is due on the TBM. The plane flies well, they captured the essence of the aircraft, the G1000 is the next best thing to Flight1's version and it is better on frame rates than the last couple I've bought from them too. (Last plane I bought from them was the C90). And besides, compared to Wilco? Unless they pull something amazing out of the bag there will be no competition. On one of their low res(!) previews the Hobbs meter is labeled as 'Time Gauge'. And I don't trust any developer that won't post previews at a resolution higher than 600px. Something is definitely up there. You can take the Carenado TBM with its few flaws or try your luck with the company that put of the CRJ and Avanti in recent years. I can ignore the faulty engine indication on start up and if I want WAAS I'll drop in my RXP gauge as a pop up.
May 29, 201313 yr I can live with the slightly lower top speed, but the faulty engine gauge is not a result of FS's shortcomings - it even works with the default Caravan. When the provided check list says to bring the condition lever forward at 13% Ng but the gauge just stays at 0%, that's enough reason to ground the plane until it can be fixed - both in reality and in the sim. -
May 29, 201313 yr I can see both your points. Maybe unflyable is a little extreme, but it is certainly a sign of poor quality control (especially if the gauge is already available in their C208), and perhaps a rush to grab the cash before things have been properly checked. I do like to perform proper engine starts too, so as Jimmi said, I would be waiting for that 13%Ng and it sitting at 0 would be offputting.
May 30, 201313 yr the Hobbs meter is labeled as 'Time Gauge'. "Hobbs" is actually a trademark that became sort of the accepted name of the airframe/engine timer. There's a TBM8 that frequents here with the same label actually (F-OJGL)... "If lightning is the anger of the gods, the gods are concerned mostly with trees." -- Lao Tse (6th Century BCE)
May 30, 201313 yr People who are "defending" Wilco probably don't own anything from Wilco. That's my explanation. Tomaz Drnovsek My FSX Videos My AVSIM Gallery
May 30, 201313 yr I wouldn't say they were "defending" Wilco as much as just suggesting a "wait and see" approach instead of just writing an unreleased product off as rubbish. It makes no sense comparing anything unreleased to anything that has already made it to the market. Some of wilco's addons received fairly positive reviews from Avsim and others and based on that I'd say they're a fairly okay publisher (the [wilco-only] products I have are the airbus evolution vol2, and avanti ii - which to me i have very little issues with, ie nothing to go on a forum and complain about) - so I'd tend to wonder about some forum posters who just go on a bashing spree once Wilco announces a new addon. May 31, 201313 yr Wilco didn't create the Avanti. Sent from my HTC6435LVW using Tapatalk 2 Well, Aeroplane Heaven did if memory serves. There are a lot of aircraft in the Wilco stable that weren't created in house. It is possible none of them were but I honestly stopped paying any attention to them quite some time ago until this came up.

May 31, 201313 yr ERJ v2 (135/145/XRJ) and the E-jets v2 were 100% feelThere with no Wilco involvement. Well these are certainly both excellent simulations. I enjoy them a lot. Robert Yunque
December 4, 201312 yr Don't do it ....yet bought it last night lots of features with the Garmin but when loaded and computer not re-booted (full admin stuff) great to look at but a slide show but after computer re-booted CTD every time have contacted Wilco support but I have a bad feeling about Wilco's QC hope I'm wrong Lew HAL 9000....... When FMC's go bad........very bad

CTD instantly after loading the plane in both FSX and P3Dv2. -M.
December 7, 201312 yr There are a lot of posts over at simflight about it and the possibility of it being related to an incompatibility with fsupic but this seem not to be the case more a sound .dll or something. Lodged a support ticket with Wilco three days ago, apart from an automated acknowledgment no reply. Looks serious Lew HAL 9000....... When FMC's go bad........very bad
