May 31, 201313 yr Don't know if this is a proper question for this forum and I apologize if not.I have not upgraded computers since FSX came out.Last one was locally built.Where is good place to buy gaming computer for FS?Can I get a decent one for approx 1K?Thanks,Ron Bring back Chief Illiniwek!University of Illinois.
May 31, 201313 yr These guys had a good rep a while back... http://www.ibuypower.com A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools. - Douglas Adams, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
May 31, 201313 yr FSX is almost unique in terms of its hardware requirements. A good gaming computer might not run FSX well if not properly set up. There are a myriad of hardware guides that can help you choose. Consider a custom builder like Cyberpower. They are very competitively priced. I would check out Jetline Systems for general hardware advice. They custom build PC's specifically for FSX but they're pricey. FSX also has to be properly installed and configured. Word Not Allowed's guide is a good read on that front. Good luck.
May 31, 201313 yr If anyone in the uk is looking for a new computer go to pcspecialist.co.uk super service at a fantasitobi price, also you must get a SSD, 25 seconds to load FSX. Rich
May 31, 201313 yr As someone suggested above, look to Jetline for FSX specific advice. You can build a PC there, using what they consider to be all ofthe best options--but DO NOT buy it from them. Head over to Cyberpower and build the smae PC. You'll pay a lot less. I did exactly that and couldn't be happier.

May 31, 201313 yr Author Since my unit is 6 years old anything would be a vast improvement.I went to Cybpower and as a starting point in my approx price range what is opinion of these specs?I also don't want a lot of extra stuff loaded and running since my main objective is FS and internet. Thanks,Ron • Intel® Core™ i5-3570K Processor • 8GB DDR3/1600MHz RAM • NVIDIA GTX650Ti 1GB Video • GIGABYTE Z77 USB3 & SATA3 MB • 1TB SATA3 7200 RPM HD • LG 12X Blu-Ray Combo Drive • Cooler Master HAF 912 Case Bring back Chief Illiniwek!University of Illinois.
May 31, 201313 yr I have been very happy with my Digital Storm custom built PC. They knew what FSX required and overclocked to 4.5 ghz with a warranty. I have only needed to call them once for tech help and they were very responsive. It arrived with the OS (win 7 64) installed and the drives already formatted, but without all the junk software some manufacturers install. I set it up per Word Not Allowed's guide and FSX runs smooth as silk, even with AS2012, RC4, GEX, and UTX installed. Dale Dale

I would consider whether or not you really need the Blu-Ray drive, you can save some money if you don't. Also, what Gigabyte mobo are they listing? Ryan L.
