June 12, 201312 yr Out of the blue, twice, today, I had a complete shut-down and re-start when all I was doing was using surfing here at Avsim. Yesterday, I had another seizure with all the graphics showing a pattern of little square boxes all linearly lined up as per attached image. Previously when this happened, it unfroze after a couple of minutes, but this time it remained firmly locked-up. No amount of Ctrl-Alt-Del would unlock, so had to re-boot. The card is an MSI GTX560Ti which I bought in the USA and as I'm flying to Vegas on Friday, hope to get it RMA'd there. Jim, if you are reading this, please shed some light, or any of the experts here. In EventViewer I kept seeing cpuz134 failed to start. This is what I grabbed from appcrashview: BCCode: 124 BCP1: 0000000000000000 BCP2: FFFFFA8007D1C038 BCP3: 0000000000000000 BCP4: 0000000000000000Version=1EventType=BlueScreenEventTime=130155195063162134ReportType=4Consent=1UploadTime=130155244727090858ReportIdentifier=0a8f1b6c-d369-11e2-a3bb-00173f143ae6IntegratorReportIdentifier=061213-48422-01Response.type=4Response.AnalysisBucket=X64_0x124_GenuineIntel_PROCESSOR_BUS_PRVDynamicSig[1].Name=OS VersionDynamicSig[1].Value=6.1.7601.2.1.0.256.48DynamicSig[2].Name=Locale IDDynamicSig[2].Value=2057UI[2]=C:\Windows\system32\wer.dllUI[3]=Windows has recovered from an unexpected shutdownUI[4]=Windows can check online for a solution to the problem.UI[5]=&Check for solutionUI[6]=&Check laterUI[7]=CancelUI[8]=Windows has recovered from an unexpected shutdownUI[9]=A problem caused Windows to stop working correctly. Just running at standard FSB. In fact I bought the Sandybridge i5-2500K last year and never got around to building the rig because I was awaiting that GPU. Now, I intend to move on and build next rig based on the i5-3570K Rick Almeida
June 12, 201312 yr i thought that q6600 is 2.4GHz In this case, BSOD is caused by hardware. You need to check procesor, heat sink, memory(test memory, and chech if everything is in place - open your PC). Check also your temperatures, maybe some fan need to be changed or something like that Zeljko Budovic
June 12, 201312 yr Author i thought that q6600 is 2.4GHz In this case, BSOD is caused by hardware. You need to check procesor, heat sink, memory(test memory, and chech if everything is in place - open your PC). Check also your temperatures, maybe some fan need to be changed or something like that Yes, it is running at its stock 2.4GHz. And I don't get a BSOD. Just a switch-off and switch back on. And, interestingly, despite running FSX in the background, it was only whilst surfing repeatedly on Firefox, that all of a sudden, I got a switch-off. Same happened previous 2 occasions, only when on the Internet. Last crash has reported a malfunction with the Microsoft Security Essentials malware update. Heatsink was checked okay. Could be an OCZ HPC Black Reaper memory module, as I have had 2 of those modules fail on me in the past, and the dealer has since gone bust, so that lifetime warranty that OCZ boast is about as worthless as the bill, because OCZ's best response through some far-flung call-centre, has been to offer me 1/4 refund of what I paid but I have to return the other properly functioning module(2 x 2Gb pack) back, which means I lose out all around, so I told them, thanks no thanks and will not ever be buying any OCZ products. System is inside a more than well-ventilated Antec 900-2 case with more than enough fans. Nevertheless, thanks for your suggestions. Rick Almeida

June 12, 201312 yr New drivers 312.zx onward are causing trouble..... I use 306.63 Go to the regular NVIdia Control panel Under Managa 3D settings , scroll to Power Management Mode...set to Prefer maximum performance Good to also set Multi-display to compatibility performance mode
June 12, 201312 yr Check all your power cabling as well for any loose internal connections. A loose ATX power cable connection at the power supply (top quality PSU btw) caused me infinite madness for a night with my new system.

Will do as suggested. EDIT: just done that Check all your power cabling as well for any loose internal connections. A loose ATX power cable connection at the power supply (top quality PSU btw) caused me infinite madness for a night with my new system. Just did all that as well as physically removing the RAM sticks and running an eraser along the contacts to refresh the gold contacts ans then running a Memory Test which reported nothing wrong. But I did disconnect an Iomega USB 500Gb HDD which repeatedly kept Auto-Playing and that seems to have, touch wood, kept things stable so far. New drivers 312.zx onward are causing trouble..... June 14, 201312 yr @vc10man Hi Rick, I did some Googling regarding the CPUZ134 error and it could be related to Malware. It's strange as CPU-Z version 1.34 was released in 2006. Is that the latest version installed? The 0124 Stop Code indicates a hardware or driver issue. I would download and run a freeware program like Driver Scanner and see what drivers are out of date or might be corrupted. It's payware if you tell the program to download and update the drivers; freeware if you go looking yourself on Google for the updated drivers. You should also scan your system for corrupted drivers or system files - http://pcsupport.about.com/od/toolsofthetrade/ht/sfc-scannow.htm. I would run a good Malware program too like Malwarebytes (freeware). I also periodically run SuperAntiSpyware freeware edition.
