June 29, 201312 yr Hey, Since the PMDG 777 is close to release,i wanted to ask you if the Alianware X51(i7,3.9Ghz+8GB RAM+NVIDEA GTX 660) will run Fsx smooth. How many FPS will i get?and how will the 777 perform? Thanks Daniel Daniel Jeremy
June 29, 201312 yr I suggest you build your own PC, it's not that hard a few youtube videos will do the job if there's any problems or ask Avsim. You can save a ton of money and get a better CPU and GPU. Lionel

June 29, 201312 yr DJI, if you don't want to build your own that's fine. Considering the 777 should have better performance than the NGX, and I can run it on my horrible system, you should be fine. Running FSX smoothly [should] will be a breeze with that system. Regards, Jeremy Chesney
June 29, 201312 yr I don't think PMDG know how the 777 will 100% perform until they have the final release candidate. - Luke Pabari
June 29, 201312 yr +1 for building own rig. You should get similar specs to the X51, however, get an unlocked CPU and a graphics card that's not as good as the 660 so that you can buy a good water cooler. Then you can overclock your cpu and then your sure to run the 777 Considering the 777 should have better performance than the NGX, Where did you hear that? But that's great news!

Thanks Daniel Sure! If you want to get ripped off and buy a computer from a company owned by Dull (the home of the cookie cutter PC), you should definitely buy an Alienware PC. In all seriousness, take a look at Cyberpower. Great high performing PCs at prices that very often beat the aggregate cost of home built systems. To all the home build fanatics, see for yourself. Build a PC at Cyberpower.com to your liking and then compare the price to what you'll pay at NewEgg (or wherever you buy parts) for the same components. Never mind the fact that the builder does all the work for you. No fuss, no muss.
June 29, 201312 yr Am I the only person who actually LIKES building and testing a new rig? Name available upon request
June 29, 201312 yr From past experience and in my honest opinion, I would steer well clear of Alienware!! Way too overpriced for what you actually get! You can save quite a lot of money maybe 600-700 just by researching and building your very own computer, and quite frankly, have double the performance out of the hardware as if you were to get it built by a company such as Alienware. If your unsure on how to build just search around the forums and google a few YouTube videos will also do the trick. Its a great accomplishment to do such a thing, and you get the up-most satisfaction out of it! Go on, save a few quid and build your own rig. If you get the Alienware X whatever, you will seriously regret it!
June 29, 201312 yr Since the PMDG 777 is close to release Says who...? :-P BTW, agree, build your own...and AW is a rip off.
June 30, 201312 yr Says who...? :-P Luke P. I speak on behalf of the entire team when I tell you that we would prefer you did NOT find a woman at this late stage of development.... We'd prefer to see you enjoying our soon to be released 777 without the interruption... We're just saying... Robert says ^_^ - Luke Pabari
June 30, 201312 yr Commercial Member Alienware = overpriced Dell junk. Build your own or use one of the better builder companies like Jetline Systems, Digital Storm, Cyberpower etc. Those guys actually use the same parts those of us who build machines use and they're in general going to be much higher quality than whatever Dell/Alienware is using. June 30, 201312 yr dji13 - everyone that told you to build your own rig is steering you the right way. The specs you gave us was for a mid range machine at best that they want to charge you an arm and a leg for. To start - a 600 series EVGA graphics card is so yesterday (3 years old actually). The 660 is mid range of that series where the 680 (which I am sure is the price you are going to paying) is the high end version. EVGA had the 700 series last year and the Titian series this year. The 8G RAM - what's the speed? What's the timing? These are questions that matter in building a system for FSX. You mentioned i7 - which one? Again - all i7s are not built equally. Just go on Inel's site and see how many i7 processors are out there. Now for running games - only the Sandy's and the Ivy's are worth your money. Also when it comes to a hard drive - 10K Raptor is a must or an SSD of at least 240GB. There was no mention of the motherboard either - that is just as important as the processor, hard drive, RAM and video card. Even if you go exotic and go liquid or an enclosed hydro - Corsair's H series cooling strategy, and all high-end components and a nice tower - we are still talking less than $900! I think the X-51 is $1,200 LOL! Tabs said it best "over priced junk!" Might as well get something off the self at your local store. Xaver Uzo
June 30, 201312 yr Never mind the fact that the builder does all the work for you. No fuss, no muss. I kinda built it for fun as well as saving money, felt rather proud when I was done lol Alex Jevdic KORD/KHOT/KPWKA<380 love at first flight
