MSE Oregon - Orbx Airfield compatibility

Featured Replies

Hey y'all,

I am currently downloading MSE Oregon (they have a 25% sale on, until 31 July 2013!!!), but as always it's going to take most of the day to download and install it.

I was wondering if anyone else has MSE Oregon yet, and I was wondering how well the Orbx FTX Airfields in the Oregon area, blend with MSE?

If I'm the first, I'll post my results once I'm installed and up and running (probably not today!).

Is that 25% for any state or just oregon?

Any state at all - and that includes not just the newer "2.0" products, but also MSE 1.0 (so California and Washington states).

Pretty good deal, the $39.95 states are now all $29.96.

Excellent Jim.   I know you are a fellow MSE fanatic, so look forward to hearing what you think.

I am still downloading (4 hours in), onto file 031 of the 48 !

Let me know how it is, would definitely like to see some screenshots! :) I love MSE as well. Btw whats the difference between their 1.0 and 2.0? Did they add night time textures to 2.0?

Generally higher quality imagery used in V2 products than V1.  V1 products had some limited autgen added to it, V2 is pure photo.

No night time textures, but it does use the default.

I have FTX/Orbx Portland installed and I see no anomalies whatsoever. Even the colors appear blended.  I'm going to do some more exploring in the area.  I also downloaded Idaho, Wyoming and Montana (Montana has 60 files!) and see if any of it conflicts with KJAC (Jackson Hole).

Best regards,

Jim

Thanks for the heads up on the sale, Dave.  I usually get notifications, but either I didn't this time or I missed it in my email.  I've been waiting a bit to add Utah and Nevada, so this will be a good time to do that.

Nice thing about the Megascenery products is that with a bit of patience you can almost always pick up a deal or two.  They're pretty aggressive with regular incentives.

I've been wondering for a long, long time...

If you take the texture directories from ORBX and add them to a MSE 2.0 photoreal scenery, will the Autogen appear on top of the photoreal?  Some folks say autogen will.

Excellent!    (10 files left and I'm all downloaded for Oregon.   I wanted Idaho to go with it, but will buy and go through the Downloading game for that one in a couple days!).

That's a very interesting thought.    My gut feel says this won't work, but be interesting to find out.  Mind you, the lack of autogen in MSE doesn't really bother me.  Leads to great performance and I can set ground traffic and weather levels much higher.

Autogen over photoscenery looks amazing. You get the best of both worlds and it makes everything much more realistic looking especially if you're on ground level. I wish more scenery developers would add more autogen on top of their photoscenery.
