August 19, 201312 yr Airline SOP dictates, but all I've known for anything is V2 + 10. But in the 737, setting V2 on the MCP makes the FD command V2+10. So if you set V2+10 in the MCP, you actually get V2+20 Steve Caffey
August 19, 201312 yr Explained this in the arming lnav/vnav on ground thread, however most likely people aren't using vnav on departure because prior to U10.8A software, there was a bug in the vnav where it would not respect flap speeds. Kind of stupid in the sim though as the ngx is shipped with U10.8A Regards,James White Aerosoft (Airbus X Extended/Twin Otter Extended/PFPX) & Majestic Q400 Beta Team

August 19, 201312 yr Reeeeaaaaaally? Hmm. Looks like I need to go back and have a look at the manuals I claim to have read thoroughly enough... It's also on the 777 If I remember it should change to V2+15 at liftoff (unles engine failure occurs ) and might change to up to V2+25 I believe depending on the speed you have in the next few seconds. Could be wrong though but should check too tonight Got the PMDGs Beoing 777 Captain set since quite sometime Aurelien Vandoorine
August 19, 201312 yr Author Commercial Member Got the PMDGs Beoing 777 Captain set since quite sometime I keep telling myself I'll buy those things to treat myself to something cool, and then I remind myself I could go take a real plane for a spin for about the same cost. My friends in other countries also get kinda irritated because they'll send me an email saying "hey come visit - ticket prices are only $600ish!" ...and then I say "man, that's like a flight or two on my own - I'll visit you sometime, I promise!" I'll have a look at the PDFs at least. Kyle Rodgers
August 19, 201312 yr Hi boys! Just reread the B777 Automatic Flight manual from SmartCockpit and Aurelien is spot-on. PDF is good but well somehow I'm not too much into reading in front of a screen and I thought it would improve my knowledge. Also did a 737NG simulator time a couple of years ago, quite an amazing experience anyway I'm really glad to have these, and I really think they are worth their price, classy binders perfect printing, had a page that was wrong got changed very quickly. With kind words from the publishers. But it's true it is expensive, I just happened to be able to purchase it Wish it would have granted access to beta But it's really interesting anyway even in PDF might even have an earlier release with some changes from the versions I purchase Anyway I had not commented but once again great video Aurelien Vandoorine
August 19, 201312 yr Reeeeaaaaaally? Hmm. Looks like I need to go back and have a look at the manuals I claim to have read thoroughly enough... I had no idea until someone pointed it out on here a while ago (Ryan, I think). Anyway, upon further thought I believe the FD will actually command for V2 (set on the MCP) +20 in the NG. According to the tutorial flights, you are to set V2 in the MCP, then follow the FD which commands for V2+20 in the initial climb. That's what I get for posting at that hour.. Edit: Ok, finally found the reference in the FCOM. Vol 2, 4.20.12 (pdf page 224) At lift–off: •the pitch command continues at 15 degrees until sufficient climb rate is acquired. Pitch then commands MCP speed (normally V2) plus 20 knots Steve Caffey
August 19, 201312 yr Looks like the 777 is slightly different from the 737 in this regard: At lift–off: •The pitch command target speed is V2 + 15. If current airspeed remains above the target speed for 5 seconds, the target airspeed is reset to current airspeed (limited to a maximum of V2 + 25). Either way, looks like setting V2 on the MCP is the way to go. Steve Caffey

August 21, 201312 yr That would possibly be the emergency lights... I hadn't thought of that actually, thanks.
August 21, 201312 yr Author Commercial Member How comes when you killed the battery at the end the dome light still stayed on? There's a delay after the battery switch is killed to the full cut of power from what I understand. I mentioned this in the video. That would possibly be the emergency lights... It's the dome. You can see that I switched the emerg lights off as part of the checklist. Kyle Rodgers
