CaptSim 24-Hour Sale

Featured Replies

Just been notified of their 24-hour sale at Euro 9.99, yet when I looked at their 777-200 Base, it is listed at Euro 49.99 yet their blurb says everything is on offer at Euro 9.99.

Odd. Am I missing something in that promotional blurb?

Has it started yet? I thought it was tomorrow.

The sale was said to start tomorrow.

Thanks for those updates, guys. Mia Culpa I did not read my email from them correctly.

From the text of the email, everything should be included in the sales.

For anyone who has the 707, how is navigation? Strictly VOR to VOR?

Yes, plus the INS being available when you install the freeware CIVA INS and edit the panel.cfg. There's a layout for one or two units, as you like. In theory, even the default GPS or the RXP could be added. I haven't tried, but I think one could drive the HDG bug through those units too if the INS is able to do so.

Thanks CoolP, ill have to read up on the CIVA. And is the included Doppler any good?

Oh, I'm stupid. I forgot to mention the Doppler system. :blush: Now that's available too, yes. And it seems to work almost too good since there's not a big deviation to expect. So it might perform very similar to e.g. using the default GPS and coupling it with the autopilot.

For number nerds I think the INS is nice and demands a proper learning. As for going simpler, VOR to VOR or Doppler come in handy.

Sounds good. I think I'll add the 707 to my (now) trio of old-school jets, alongside the CS DC-9 and the MIlviz 732, although the 732 isn't as old school as the other two.

You can fly the GPS route in the 707, if you want. I can't remember if it includes the GPS gauge or if I had to add it, but if you have it added and you have an FSX route loaded, you just click Nav on the autopilot and it will follow the GPS route. The 727 is strictly the old VOR style, but even that can be easily changed by adding the Cessna NAV/GPS switch to the autopilot 2D panel. The 737 has a built-in "cheat." There is a switch on the VC front panel that looks like a test switch, but actually operates as a NAV/GPS switch (default setting is NAV, of course). The only problem is, it will only follow the path if you use the altitude hold on the AP.

Some may hate that, but I like having the choice.

Shame on me.....as someone who studied Latin but tend to get mixed up with my Latin languages. I reckon I'll go and stand in the corner.

@CoolP

As I have the 707 and just bought the freighter expansion last night, can you talk me through that edit panel.cfg as I have never quite got the hang of that CIVA INS. A PM will do.Thanks
