Tiller Function

Featured Replies

Does the PMDG 777 model the tiller functions like on the Austral vid in this forum? A simple yes or no will suffice.

Thanks PMDG for bringing a detailed 777 to FSX.

Thanks beta testers for the updates as testing continues.

Like the NGX, I assume the rudder axis will control the NWS - Nose wheel steering - Which is what the tiller controls. I can't remember wether or not the actual tiller moves with the rudder movements like some other addons (as I simply don't look down by my left knee when taxiing in FSX :P ).

BTW, full name must be signed at the bottom of your posts in the PMDG forum (easiest way is just to set your forum signature).

The tiller in the NGX moves, much like in most of their aircraft. I don't see why it wouldn't in the 777

No idea what Austral vid you're referring to, so I can't say yes or no.

Unless I am mistaken, I think Duncan means is it something similar to the Majestic Q400 where the tiller is a completely separate axis. In other words one axis controls rudder and another axis controls the nose wheel steering independently.

Yes.. and it doesn't   - Just like the NGX

See Kyles video (nice) the rudder moves when he turns..

Its a design choice PMDG have made..

You should be able to assign the tiller through a reg version of fsuipc.

Add-ons > FSUIPC > 'Axis Assignment' Tab.

Check 'Profile specific' if you want to create a specific one for the add-on you're assigning tiler to... Then for the tiler...

Move the axis (of your hardware) you want to assign tiler to.

Select 'Send to FS as normal axis'.

Choose 'Steering Set' in the list below.

Click 'OK'.

Yes this is exactly what I mean. In the PMDG 777 forum there is also a vid of Air Austral 777 and the Captain is using the tiller to move the Nose Gear.

I use FSUIPC to assign the tiller function to the twist axis on a joystick.

I tried the above instructions on the pmdg 777, but it doesn't work.

What else should I check ?.

Do I need to select anything under controls in the fsx

menu ?
