November 8, 200421 yr To the makers of Active Sky 2004.5, PLEASE READ! I just took off in an Airbus 320 from Pearson; Toronto, Canada headed for Tampa, Florida, U.S.A. I am presently at FL220 heading for my cruise FL. Gentlemen, I am climbing through the most GLORIOUS sky graphics
November 8, 200421 yr Permit me to echo your sentiments Mitch.I had a similar experience approaching my local airport (NZWN) the other day when the (RW) weather wasn't that good. The visual sensation produced by AS2004.5 was just breathtaking. This has to be the most compelling accessory. My respects also...
November 8, 200421 yr Mitch,Couldn't write it any better.I had a magnificent experience on my home airport Schiphol/Amsterdam. Dawn, low clouds, orange skies, some ground mist, and landing at the new runway 18R. Awesome.Hands together for the AS2004-team. Regards, Jeroen The Netherlands
November 8, 200421 yr Dang, and I thought this was going to be a ######in' & moaning letter...I must say what makes ActiveSky so great is the support Jim & Damian offer directly to their customers. Top-Notch! Manny Patel
November 8, 200421 yr After the initial release of ActiveSky I was one of the harsh critics as the program was full of bugs. Since the ActiveSky has come a long way and today the improvements and the feeling AS brings to the sim makes me consider FS9+AS=FS10. This is by far one if not the best add-ons for FS.Alex
November 8, 200421 yr Geez Louise fellas!! All this wondrous talk of AS is gonna make me have to go out and get it:-).I'm about 99 percent convinced so far......My, how far Flight Simming has come...Thanks ActiveSky guys!Tony P.
November 8, 200421 yr Go Buy it.... you won't regret it.In fact, you'll most likely wonder how you ever flew without it. It's one of the best addons out there. Cheers,Paul ( SPIM )
November 8, 200421 yr What about the framerates? I have a athlon xp 1800+ / fx5600 /1024 mb ram system.I would love to see realistic weather, but I don't think my system can handle it...:-(cheers,Claudio
November 8, 200421 yr My old system was an AMD 1800 + Nvidia 4200TI + 512 RAM. I ran with all sliders maxed 100% 3D clouds 100% AI. The worst the weather would drive my FPS down to was 8 FPS on approach (rare stutters). But thats also with a handful of AI on screen/ worst case scenario. With some compromises in AI and pulling back some of the sliders you should be able to keep FPS in a good range.
November 8, 200421 yr I don't think AS2004 itself will have any effect on your frame rates - the problem comes in when it brings up multiple cloud layers to match the real conditions. The good news is that there are several options within AS2004 that let you control the maximum effects and therefore keep your fps within reason. If you can fly with FS9 real weather now, I'm betting you cand find a combination of setting which will work with AS2004.Dale Dale
November 9, 200421 yr Yep Mitch i do agree with the the diffrences between 4 and 4.5 are quite astounding... i love how it puts low level clouds in the valleys really amazing :) got to love big fluffly clouds hugging the little forjs of new zealand
November 9, 200421 yr ????? I am really glad you enjoy it - it is an excellent product I am sure. However, I simply do not understand exactly, point by point, what it does that FSMeteo does not??my wind smoothing is done by FSUIPC, works wellmy cloud textures are the excellent FSW freeware, excellentFSMeteo works with VATSIM serversect...I have reviewed their site and cannot find anything specific to make me change. I am not bashing the product in anyway, I am simply curious as some here have used FSMeteo but choose to switch for reasons that I cannot deduce. What would be nice for me is a simple bulleted comparison that show specific differences/enhancements. Looking at their site they appear as equals. CPU: Core i5-6600K 4 core (3.5GHz) - overclock to 4.3 | RAM: (1066 MHz) 16GB MOBO: ASUS Z170 Pro | GeForce GTX 1070 8GB | MONITOR: 2560 X 1440 2K
November 9, 200421 yr How do you order it online? I went to their site and click the download option. When filling out the payment, it says it going to ship it to my home address. Thought I just download and execute the transaction line Flight One's product. Finially, I didn't order it.
November 9, 200421 yr Mike,It's probably best that a recent FSMeteo user that has switched to AS2004.5 comment on the bullet points. I used to use FSMeteo a couple of years ago, so I can't comment on the recent feature differences. There is another thread where former FSMeteo users are commenting on AS2004.5. It's here: http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...20502&mode=fullMaybe you can ask one of them to give you a side by side comparison since they own and use both systems (at least up until recently).Bruce
