September 13, 201312 yr Good afternoon I need an opinion on what to get between GSX or AES. I have absolutely no scenery in my sim nothing and the only thing I will buy is the new Aerosoft EGLL scenery when it comes out so which one of these two products would be best for me? I am looking for a way to remote park my 747-400X queen and use some airstairs also I would like a pushback function thanks all in advance for your advice Ian Snow
September 13, 201312 yr Hi Ian, If you're not using any payware at all besides one airport, I would say GSX is for you. AES is strictly for payware addon airports and limited freeware ones. AES does not work with default airports, but GSX will work anywhere. If you end up picking up two or three addon airports though, then I would say to start considering AES. The main difference is that AES is customized for a specific airport, so pushbacks will be more accurate in some cases. GSX is a great tool though, and I'm sure you'll be very happy with it. It definitely adds a ton to that immersion factor. Regards,Kyle
September 13, 201312 yr +1 To add, I would say that GSX is not too bad though when it comes to pushback.
September 13, 201312 yr Sounds like you're interested in simulating arrival and departure ground operations. There are many threads around with comparing AES and GSX. Both are similar in what they do. Some major differences are: GSX - Works at all airports. - One time payments. - Does not move jetways. You move them with default FSX commands. This should not be an issue with default airports. Some payware airports have non-moving jetways that would only move with AES, if AES covers that airport. - Simulates the visuals of loading and unloading luggage. AES - Works with a large, but limited set. This set grows with each version. - AES base package is free, you must purchase a set of credits to activate each airport. When you run out of credits, you must purchase another set, and so on. - Does offer moving jetways for all the airports it supports. - Baggage loaders approach the aircraft, but no visual loading and unloading. dv Win 10 Pro || i7-8700K || 32GB || ASUS Z370-P MB || NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti 11Gb || 2 960 PRO 1TB, 840 EVO My Files in the AVSIM Library
September 13, 201312 yr As AES currently doesn't help you (GSX works with your default airports AND your single addon airport), the question is, will you ever need AES on top of GSX? Find out for yourself by downloading the free AES basepack which uses default Nuremberg airport (EDDN) as a time-unlimited demo airport for the AES features. (Download either from Aerosoft or from Simmarket - the basepack is free; there's no obligation to buy AES credits.) What happened to AVSIM
September 14, 201312 yr There is a fully working demo for GSX, try it for yourself. I was pretty underwhelmed with GSX. It just doesn't entertain me enough, esp. with GA aircraft.

These Airport Service addons are underwhelming for me as well. I don't know but maybe is just me and this is only my honest opinion but sitting at the tarmac pretending that the airport is really servicing you're aircraft don't really do it for me. It's not like is automatic, you have to tell the addon to do the fake service while the AI around you has none. Not for me.
September 14, 201312 yr I rather like GSX to be honest. I must admit since buying GSX I've not bothered with AES since although I was a big fan back in the day. The visual models are arguably better with GSX. It would be great if you could simply dial in the length of your turnaround and GSX did everything automatically, opening and closing doors as necessary for servicing and loading. In the real world the pilots don't operate the doors but can simply see whether they're open or not.
