777 and Shockwave Lights

Featured Replies

Hi Folks,

Does anyone have a good working config for Shockwave lights with the T7?

Please share if you don't mind.

Thanks

Really?  You want to add always-in-fog-lights over the similar, yet more refined version you already have?

Sometimes I wonder if people actually pay attention, or if they add stuff just because it must be better because it's not what came with the plane...

Putting 3D lights on the 777 is a silly idea.  Sorry.  You're asking for trouble doing this IMO.

I think when I'm bored I'll tweak the PMDG 777 aircraft.cfg to see if I can make it better. (sarcasm intended)

Shockwave lights might be a little overdone, but the volumetric lighting on the 777 seems a little underdone. It doesn't need to be foggy for the lights to diffuse in atmosphere. I often see 737s coming in right over the freeway into John Wayne, and even now in summer the light beams extend well in front of the plane. Call it smog, call it dust, but there are enough particles in the air to create the diffusion effect from dusk into night. That effect goes away during the day, but during the night the landing lights look quite voluminous. There's compromises here in regards to realism, and I don't think shockwave or PMDG got it quite right for all conditions. So berating people for their preferences, atleast in this situation, seems counter-productive.

Well there's your problem...

I wouldn't call the LA area representative of...anywhere but the LA area...

Unless there's fog, or a heavy amount of in-air particulate, you're not going to see the lights like the Shockwave stuff.  Revolutionary, sure.  Cool, to a certain degree.  Realistic in most circumstances? Hardly.

Fair enough that is probably why i haven't found what i was requesting online yet!

I'm not an add-on fanatic or anything  but i suppose you're right i thought it was a standard to apply those lights to pretty much most aircraft.

I have only managed 2-3 flights in the thing so im sure i'll look into these refined lights abit more. I do like the strobes  B)

I don't understand why when someone comes in asking if they can add something to a "revolutionary" aircraft people start flipping out about it! Everyone has their preference and if they want to do something that you don't - just don't do it then!

Blasphemy !

call the inquisition, immediately... ohh and later we see then who is right or ?

...no, while testing our new "fuel burn table" we will see if he is "normal" or "extra crunchy" hehehe hee <_<

(this was a try to make a joke, it should be taken as such)

You have a valid point Ill give you that. But what I will say is that PMDG has done things with the lights that are phenomenal. For example if you look at a PMDG aircraft on tower view the light globes are not floating in front of the aircraft. There are a lot of revolutionary things that PMDG has done with their lighting post NGX and I wouldn't alter it personally.

Disco dancing in the cockpit? I'd love to add a disco-ball.

i personally think it's amazing and haven't edited anything in the NGX - I just find it sad how some people get torn apart for sharing that they want something different.

Yeah you are going to get that in the world known as forums. Everyone is entitled to their own simming experience, but some people don't like to see the aircraft altered especially when it is viewed as perfection.
