Win 8

As PMDG does not offer support for the 777 (never knew until they had my money)  what can we do now?

many thanks

They state explicitly on their website that a) they do not support Win8 for the 777 and b) they have a No Returns policy.

As with many things these days, it's caveat emptor.

I still have an old Aerosoft Twin Otter I bought from FlightSimStore relatively recently, thinking I was getting the Twin Otter X (hadn't realized the subtle naming similarities).  Same issue, no returns.

Caveat Emptor.   Research carefully before you buy anything and go in eyes open, it's that simple.

Exactly. Why is that so hard for people?

Reading is difficult, apparently.

I blame Twitter. :)

Dunno, I've been happily flying the 777 in Win 8 since release...as well as the NGX, MD-11, etc.

The only big issue in Win 8 seems to be that FSX MAY forget that a joystick is connected if you alt-tab out of FSX and once you lose it, it's gone until an FSX restart (not a 777-exclusive problem). If you don't alt-tab, you're generally good to go. There's a mega-thread here in Avsim about this. I've run into this issue once or twice, but have since gotten my external laptop setup with everything so that alt-tabbing on my FSX rig is never needed.

Unplugging tabbing back out then plug in and tab in fixes it for my saitek yoke. But other than that minor annoyance the 777 works fine on my win8.

I happily fly PMDG 737NGX and 777 on my Win 7.  Bought and Installed 737NGX on second computer last year with WIN 8 and never ever got it to run right. Graphics were major issue as were freezes and CTDs. Gave up I am sticking with the Win 7 system. But I knew in advance at least that the risk was mine.

I have no problems running FSX and loads of add-on's including PMDG's aircraft including this latest dream machine 777 on Windows 8 64 bit. Yes I have had joystick problems, but according to some forums, it happens on windows 7 aswell. I have my joystick configured through FSUIPC and it works perfectly.

I have had the 737NGX on my Win8 system for about three weeks....no problems.  I use FSUIPC for the controls, also using Active Sky 2012, EZDOK, and TrackIR 5.

Just went back to Win 8 last night after installing latest version of FSXAssist which runs in the background and now can help FSX 'remember' that your joystick is still there. So far results look positive after successfully completing a flight in the NGX.

Haven't had a chance to fly the 777 yet but have installed and loaded it, everything seems to work as it should so no issues there. I also notice that Win 8 will give you better overall performance in FSX than Win 7 and you should see an increase in FPS.

Then you didn't read the purchase page - that isn't our fault.
