777 BBJ-VIP weight simulation

Featured Replies

Hey guys, while I expect PMDG to come soon with a BBJ NGX Expansion I have a question regarding VIP weights on the 777 maybe someone could answer. I you want to simulate a full BBJ-VIP interior on both the NGX or the 777 you'd need to what, set payload to max then add 10-15 passengers?

Isn't it "Full" CDU payload + passengers for the 777 too much for an hypothetical BBJ-VIP interior?

What do you think?

Weight is weight. But I'm pretty sure the VIP BBJ aircraft don't have several hundred seats in them, so why would you go "Full"?

How many people do you want to carry in the BBJ?

How much does the solid 18 carat gold bed head weigh?

Food catering?

Wait, you want it to be 10-15 passengers fuller than full?

If the 777 is full, then why are you adding 15 passengers to the already full plane?

I don't understand?

I think the 737 BBJ weighs more than the typical pax model due to the luxury amenities installed since airline seats don't weigh that much compared to beds, showers, extra bulkheads to make rooms, couches, advanced electronics for entertainment and communications, and I'm sure the galley is heavier due to advanced equipment since the pax models have basic hot air ovens and space for carts. That being said its likely that the same would occur in the BBJ version of the 777.

Yeah - heavier when empty, sure.

But not payload.

I'd add 10 tons to ZFW + your PAX, I guess.

You guys are correct, VIP interiors often weigh more than an airline config. That said, even if your OEW is 10 tons heavier, you actual payload will be less so your ZFW will not usually be anywhere near what an airline would operate at. With Aux fuel tanks, you could still be looking at a fairly heavy TOW. Interesting point that some VIP aircraft never take off at MTOW as even with full fuel tanks and full pax load, there is still TOW headroom, as the low pax count cant be increased due to lack of physical seats!
