October 11, 201312 yr Author These optional EXEs remove the 3D knobs from the model and give a perfect RXP integration. A big thanks for your substantial reply. Question. With all that Carenado provides in the way of RXP integration, does that include an option to remove the 3D knobs on the WX unit they provide? i.e. in case the customer wants to place the RXP WX500 in the panel. Understand from what you said they do not provide an integration .exe file for the WX500, but asking here about the 3D knobs optons. I have the RXP WX unit in my 208 panel and really enjoy it. Just completed a 3:40 flight in the 208 today from Greensboro, NC, to Ft. Myers, FL, and the WX500 was much appreciated during the first 100 NM. Hi, I looked for you earlier today and did not see anything like this in this version, there has been in the past but I guess now since they do the RXP stuff themselves they dont need to anymore
October 11, 201312 yr I might also have to try my hand at a Canadian paint By the way, this might be one of the best Carenado aircraft, especially after the SP's. It's a fun plane.
October 11, 201312 yr t does look like an excellent airplane. Can someone tell me what doesn't work? E.g. if you go through the checklist? I took it out last night just to remind myself of what did and didn't work. It's really not bad at all, but it is still a Carenado in this regard. I've also not looked for any RW checklists for it yet, so I've worked from the included Carenado normal procedures checklists. Off the top of my head, we're talking things like no alternate air source (I can't even find it - so maybe I'm just missing it) or alternate static source (which is there, but no workable switch). There's also no rate adjustment for the pressurization system. Most of these are things that you'd maybe want to flip, but wouldn't have any real sim action. Oh, and I still wish they'd enable the clearance switch to allow the radios to work without firing up the battery and avionics master which fires up everything. There's also still a few minor anomalies - for example, one of the annunciator panel test buttons works fine, but the other one only works after you've flipped on the avionics master. Which also leads me to... most of us have griped about Carenado documentation, but if I could somehow get them to do one thing, it would be a simple panel/control layout document. There's one switch on the overhead panel, for example, that flips but I have no bleeping clue what its purpose is. I think the tool-tip says something helpful like "Switch" when you hover over it. But most of these things are just nits. I like the plane. Oh, and FP - again - no there's no way provided to disable 3D knobs. Honest. ^_^ I haven't seen this capability on any of the Carenado's I've purchased since they started providing RXP integration utilities, way back around the time of the T210. The last Carenado plane I have that I can do this on was the V35. Scott
October 11, 201312 yr Yeah ground switch would be nice. And if some of the switches were more flippable I think we'd be looking at a stronger release.
October 11, 201312 yr Well, I guess it's cost-benefit in terms of those switches. If it doesn't make them enough money to implement them then that's that. I would buy it if they were done but I'm happy with the airplanes I have and the ones coming up from folks who do more complete work. I think the tool-tip says something helpful like "Switch" when you hover over it. Made me lol. Now you guys know I like the planes a lot but that description is just so typical, it should go right into a lexicon entry on Carenado. ^_^ I'd even say that, if Carenado dropped those issues, something would be missing. And more seriously, it still sounds like a good plane to get. Thanks again for the reports and write-ups.
October 12, 201312 yr As well as those already covered (eg.. Alternate Air etc), I believe the pressurization system is effectively non-functional as far as I can see. There are some controls for it, but as far as I can see, it's not functional. The stuff that is there though, is really good - I can not put this plane down..... it's a long time since I said that about a Carenado!

You can mouse over it and spin the mouse wheel and get nothing... nothing... nothing... and then suddenly it works. Other times it works right out of the gate. Have patience, and it will turn. Once it does, the system works as expected, minus the control to adjust rate. The stuff that is there though, is really good Agreed. As I mentioned - the stuff I don't like is mostly small annoyances and nitpicky stuff. On balance, it's a really nice plane. Scott
October 12, 201312 yr I might also have to try my hand at a Canadian paint Thank you! Its hard finding Canadian repaints for these planes. I've had a Malibu in the hangar for a little while, and honestly I was a little surprised by how its release was kind of ... a non-event. Just my two cents, but I think that its really quite under-rated - it really is a fun plane to fly. Same (IMO) with the SR-22. I admit, I didn't care for it much when it was first released, but in (as I have learned) typical Carenado fashion, the updates have been very kind to this little plane. I'm no real-world pilot, so I can't compare the computer to its real world counterpart, but they both are nice to fly. Tom

October 12, 201312 yr Author I haven't seen this capability on any of the Carenado's I've purchased since they started providing RXP integration utilities The Malibu Jet Prop has a deselect the 3D knobs option via the shift-3 menu. This appears to be a variant of that model, which is why I asked. What do you see if you execute shift-3? October 12, 201312 yr The Malibu Jet Prop has a deselect the 3D knobs option via the shift-3 menu. I'm not sure where you get this idea, but no, it doesn't. Here's a snip from the JetProp manual - verified with a quick pop into the plane: Pressing SHIFT + 3 will pop up the Windows Manager as is shown here:VC Windows, allows toggling between the default interior windows and 100% transparent windows.Instrument reflections, allows you to eliminate reflections of the instruments. To make visible static elements such as pitot cover, sight props and chocks you have to have the engine OFF, beon the ground, parking brake set and the Static Elements option checked in the Control Windows. The piston Malibu adds door controls to the Shift + 3 menu, but that's it. As I'd responded before, it's just Window Reflections On/Off, Instrument Reflections On/Off and Static Elements On/Off (only works when the engine is shut down and on the ground). None of these control 3D knobs, nor do any other controls or panels on either plane. Sorry. Shift +4 on my V35B does bring up a window which includes Windows and 3D knobs checkboxes, but it's the last Carenado I purchased that offered this option. I've not seen it on any plane that has RXP integration utilities included. With direct integration included starting, I think, with the 210, this option disappeared. Scott
