October 10, 201312 yr I have a new issue after uninstalling Squakbox. I used CCleaner to uninstall Squakbox and when I re started FSX I got a message that I've never seen before... "Scenery area .115 missing". I checked the scenery.cfg file and area .115 is the default FSX Reno. I don't fly into Reno often but I would like it to fix this problem. Any ideas? Thanks! October 10, 201312 yr I had this also one or two times (unfortunately I forget the answer). But it hasn't to do sth. with Reno, but with missing folders in your "addon scenery". Have a look if all addons there contain two folders "scenery" and "texture" - even they are empty. If one is missing, then just create it and it should be solved. ... My advice: Always use Windows to uninstall programs, never CCleaner. Use only CClenaer for registry cleaning. I would also do a "chkdsk /r " on your harddrive to identify and/or fix problems with the drive. You don't happen to run an overclocked PC by any chance? Small file corrptions are known to happen. October 10, 201312 yr Author Can you do an FSX repair? I suppose I could... is this a special procedure? Have a look if all addons there contain two folders "scenery" and "texture" - even they are empty. If one is missing, then just create it and it should be solved. Genius. The scenery addon folder was missing both scenery and texture folders. I created them, re started FSX and, bam, no message about any missing files. Just to check things I loaded the NGX at Reno and everything appears to be working perfectly. Thank you!!! One question though - In the scenery addon folder there was also folders for my FlyTampa sceneries but not for any of my other payware scenery like Aerosoft, Imagine Sim, etc. Is this normal? All of my sceneries appear to be working fine. I would also do a "chkdsk /r " on your harddrive to identify and/or fix problems with the drive. You don't happen to run an overclocked PC by any chance? Small file corrptions are known to happen. Where do I go to perform the chkdsk/r on my hard drive? My CPU is overclocked to 4.7Ghz. I haven't had any issues with it though. Performance has been great without any OOMs or anything. What sort of file corruptions are known? Thanks! Ben Weaver SWA8485

In rare cases you can encounter corruption that leaves part of, or the whole files broken.Typical example of this is a picture file. If you open it and see bandings accross the image that is a typical example of how it can be spotted. It can happen to any system, overcloked or not, and can be caused by errors in many different components (harddrives, motherboard, memory etc.). I do "chkdsk /r" regularly (once a month at least). Read about chkdsk here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CHKDSK You use the command promt to run chkdsk, or just enter it in the search field of your Windows 7 start menu. it should be typed like this (remember space between each parameter): chkdsk c: /r This wil run a check and repair of your c-drive. If the drive is big, it will take quite some time. I usually do it before I go to sleep. You can't always tell if your computer runs fine with an OC. Even if you don't get OOMs there might be parts of your system having tiny hiccups, often caused by motherboard components being overstressed by increased voltages. October 10, 201312 yr Hi Ben ! Have you had a look at the "real" scenery.cfg? The path is "normally" C:ProgramData\Microsoft\FSX : [Area.115]Title=RenoLocal=Scenery\Cities\RenoLayer=124Active=TRUERequired=FALSE Have again a look there and check whether all 5 lines are there. If not fill it in and you're done. Scott
October 10, 201312 yr Thank you!!! Glad it works! Other addons put there sceneries in extra folders. Aerosoft has an extra folder e.g. 115 points normaly to one missing in "addon scenery" - don't ask me why ... I checked the entry against the other entries and it appeared to have everything in place. Thank you! Other addons put there sceneries in extra folders. August 19, 20169 yr Little late, but I had the same problem. The solution is very easy. Open scenery.cfg, you'll find [Area.115]Title=RenoLocal=Scenery\Cities\RenoLayer=124Active=TRUERequired=FALSE Must be like this: Active =FALSE Required=FALSE No problems when you go to the requested areas! Good luck.
January 21, 20197 yr I realise that this is a very old topic but I just had the same problem, Area 115. Reading through the possible fixes I read about a missing folders. I just created two empty folders in the Add On scenery folder. Scenery and Texture then restarted FSX and the issue seems to have gone. Whether one needs both the folders I do not know. I think in my case I was fiddling with scenery and saw an empty folder and wondered what it was. A leftover from previous scenery perhaps so I deleted it. Note to self. Leave things alone if you don't know what it is for !!!! Thanks for the tip and here is hoping this stops the error popping up again. Edited January 21, 20197 yr by skids
January 23, 20197 yr Hi. I have this problem to, My Addon folder is there plus the two folders inside it. The difference is it states Remote Scenery Area 115. Trubshaw.
